ITN

Likeing the idea (at least as I see it - a flight round the country, trailing brand colours - a la N24 countdown - but much more classy!). Has been considered before for rebrands, only slight problem being that it was considered too UK-centric. Nice clean execution too.

ITV 1 Channel

Confused: Hello Members !,

I am writing to ask is ITV 1 Channel Report not going to have a generic version of the ITV News studio like the other regions have

Just wondered about this subject with the ITV News Revamp coming soon.

I look forward to your ideas / suggestions on this subject.

Thank You !.

Not certain about the studio changing on Monday. That may be too short notice.

However, Channel Report will be getting the new ITV Regional Title sequence.

Why no yellow block to the right of the 1? All the other channel idents have their block, but 1 apparently doesn't.

If you look at the aspect ratio of the pics, they appear to be cut-off, possibly from the right hand side. The suggestion seems to be that the bracket opens up. maybe this is the case and we just can't see it in these captures.

i was just going to mention that myself...

No details on the changes to news presentation in the MG article - they just say that the ITV News and Regional News will be rebranded along with ITV1,2 and 3.

Yep, it appears the media are just showing the channel brands. Thought they might have shown the News Channel, but...oh....erm... Laughing

Hello Members !,

Confused: I am writing to ask is ITV News going to get a new look at the same time as the revamp of the ITV Network ?.

I look forward to your ideas / suggestions.

Thank You !.

Today will see a press launch of all the identities for the new ITV Channels. Not sure how much will be shown, but expect to see at least the final logos on here later. In response to your direct question, Yes News' new look will launch at 05:30 on Monday 16th Jan along with the new idents and overall brand for all ITV Channels. The new look was also completed for the News Channel, before its closure.

ITV Network Rebrand

Not long to wait; see below....

ITV to unveil redesign of channel logos
by Sam Matthews Brand Republic 6 Jan 2006

ITV: new-look logos
LONDON – ITV is rebranding its channel logos to bring them into line with the new ITV4 logo, using the same design in a variety of colours.
ITV will unveil the new logos on Monday with the on-screen launch earmarked for January 16. It is expected ITV1 will adopt the same edgy design as ITV4 only with a colour scheme of black and yellow.
The redesign is part of dramatic overhaul to bring all ITV digital stations under one clear identity for the digital future. As it stands, ITV1, 2 and 3 still have the yellow and blue while ITV4 has an sharper looking logo with white, black and green.
The new logos were created by Red Bee Media, formerly known as BBC Broadcast

The ITV News Channel is no longer broadcasting

Will be interesting to see exactly where the viewers go.

In terms of demographics, they would logically migrate to Sky - similar sort of news agenda, commercial channel, etc.

That said, you could argue that ITV is more of an established news provider than Sky with the public and viewers choose it because they are familiar with the brand, and as such viewers will migrate to the next service from a 'normal' broadcaster, which is obviously News 24.

Always interesting to see how quickly the vultures swoop in to pick at the bones... Wink

The ITV News Channel is no longer broadcasting

I think this is a disaster and for all their supposed justification, shows the real short sighted nature of the powers at ITV. How much respect will be lost because of this.

Also, I see no sense in the timing. With a re-launch of the whole network in January, hopefully bringing new viewers to all its output, you would have thought the'd at least have given it until the launch of kids.

But now I see the justification: The redesign brings in new viewers to the National News and the powers say "...see! without a News Channel, we get more viewers for our mainsteam news! Job done"
Pathetic! Evil or Very Mad

ITV News revamp on January 16th

Brekkie Boy posted:
I really doubt though there will be major changes to the titles after just two years.

I think that like the 1999-2004 lot, it'll just be a few cosmetic changes - possibly proper widescreen and of course, the change in logo, with possible introduction of individual branded programmes again.

The regions won't change the studio, but it wouldn't surprise me if we get brand new titles as generally regional news looks don't last anywhere near as long as the national news.

The "more people on view" comment is interesting. I think the newswall is staying, with the set being changed around it. There is also some suggestion in other threads the news channel will finally get it's own studio (assuming there is still a news channel of course!).

It's been said quite often the newswall could have a virtual newsroom background, but though I like it myself, the one used on Sky News Live at 5 has been criticised alot round here.

There will be completely new titles for both National and Regional News
(though that is not to say that some of the elements of the current ones might not be retained!!), together with completely new graphic furniture and the rest of the housestyle. The studio will be 'refreshed'

BBC Breakfast... Blue

Really quite like this. Simple, effective and stylish; and in those terms, very like the rest of the BBC Brand. I could actually see this working if the colours were changed to reflect a 'sunrise' time of day, more gold and red, thereby fitting in more with the rest of the brand. This could even be addapted to change in tone throughout the prog at the TOTH.
Nice!

Could ITN News Channel rise from the ashes?

I know it's a long shoot, but maybe the impending redesign could save ITVNC. If they're spending all that money making changes albeit cosmetic ones, surely they'll stick with it long enough to see if it has any impact. We should never underestimate the power of presentation to retain/gain viewers.
If people see something that interests them visually whilst chanel surfing, maybe they stay for a closer look?

Well it was worth a try Wink

The impending re-design is merely to bring the ITVNC in-line with the new ITV branding - not an attempt to boost it's appeal. After all, the ITVNC is probably just an excuse to use the facilities which exist for the main ITV1 bulletins for other parts of the day.

Very true, but perhaps one can still affect the other? Especially as they are being redesigned in tandem, and along with regions. A more interesting visual certainly couldn't hurt - or could it? Is news now too much about presentation and not enough about journalism?
