Doctor Who: The New Series

Intruging name for an episode - "The Doctor Dances". Loving the 1940s artwork at bbc.co.uk/drwho

So that's three two parters in this series - Aliens of London/World War Three, The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances and Bad Wolf / The Parting Of The Ways. Does anyone think there should there be more or less pan-episode stories in year two? Personally I'd be happy with maybe one two parter and a three-parter.

BTW any ratings for Empty Child?

ON/ITV Digital Number of Channels

FYI both my Panny portable television and my dad's widescreen panasonic have 99 analogue channel positions. One assumes this is for multiple inputs - i.e. say different types of digital box on RF loops, video players / recorders through rf, etc - though tbh 99 does seem like overkill

ON/ITV Digital Number of Channels

Go to the Getting Started Menu and select "Store Channels." This will erase all the old OnD and ITVD channels and leave you with your Freeview and TopUp ones.

Basically it can hold 999 channels as it has 999 LCN positions. In the OnD days all multiplexes were 64QAM which meant they carried up to 8 video streams with the remainder left over for radio. BBC Parliament used to be an audio channel back in the day as the BBC only had Mux 1 to play with.

Doctor Who: The New Series

Nice to see the BBC finally coming to their senses and putting the preview for the next ep at the end of the titles with a warning to look away now.... why have a programme which relies on cliffhangers and then spoil the cliffhanger?

BTW for all the RTD bashers - plain fact is that without RTD we wouldn't even be talking about a Dr Who series right now in 2005. I have been unimpressed with a few bits and bobs - reliance on Earth, too much Rose's family, soppy Dalek, the Doctor IS Wallace - but on the whole it's been enjoyable, good plotlines and storytelling, and worth the wait.

CBS Evening News

Isonstine posted:

Oh, and Sky used to show both ABC World News Tonight and NBC Nightly News - CBS seems to be a survivor. (ABC fell in love with the BBC - and as for NBC...could that be to do with MSNBC?)

NBC reports are infrequently shown on the ITV News channel, and I saw an NBC Nightly News - complete with US advertising - shown on the ITV NC back during the Iraq war at about the same time of night as ABC WNT on BBC News 24.

Doctor Who: The New Series

Not long till the big finale

Anyone else now feeling that Dr Who is indeed the answer to Sat night schedule problem? Averaging 7million viewers per week has to be a success in anyone's book, especially in today's multichannel world.

Am expecting withdrawal symptoms this summer.... Call for old repeats on BBC2 anyone??

Doctor Who: The New Series

Less radical idea - leave the digibox free for housemates to watch whatever they want while I'm out and just inconvenience them at 7pm on a sunday. We only have one aerial and they're addicted to E4 - even though I pay for TUTV...

BBC One idents "hazardous and frankly strange"

Quote:
Finally, I would like to see one of the rags snap sending one of the aerialists to join his mate on a one way trip to terra firma.

Well you prat - this actually happened to a friend of those talented performers in the ident. What a stupid editor to allow this kind of uninformed insensitive nonsense out into the public domain. No wonder the newspaper industry's on its arse.

Doctor Who: The New Series

i work sat nites so have to watch - and tape (im not paying £60 for a DVD boxset) the eps so why should I have to have a BBC3 DOG? They drop it for Enders and films and serious dramas so why not the BBC's best success story of 2005?

Doctor Who: The New Series

Spoiler
Quote from "The Mind Robber" website

the final two-part story of the new Doctor Who series will featur new new Daleks - that is a complete redesign of the Daleks, rumoured to bare very little resemblance to those with which we're familiar.
