James Hatts - please, I do know what I'm talking about. Rupert Murdoch owns News Corporation, of which British Sky Broadcasting is a part, which runs the Sky News channel. Your post was completely unnecessary and only serves to make you look immature and ignorant, as well as vindictive and sly. By posting silly little comments you are only drawing attention to yourself in a negative way. Snipes like that will not get you respect.
Sky News promoted on BBC TWO
Sky News has appeared in IIRC at least 1 of the BBC's drama-documentaries (it might have been The Day Britain Stopped) so it's not regarded as a taboo territory by the BBC. Maybe it's to actually give the programme some pseudo-credibility, as Sky news is / was the number 1 watched 24-hour news channel in the UK.James Hatts - please, I do know what I'm talking about. If this has been mentioned elsewhere I apologise profusely in advance and expect shoeings from all the TVForumers who hate my guts.
BBC One Promotion
Watching BBC1 presentation trailers this evening, they've started putting the time and date of a programme at the start of the trailer in a thin red band across the screen. Looks tacky to me, and like someone in Pres has too much time on their hands. If this has been mentioned elsewhere I apologise profusely in advance and expect shoeings from all the TVForumers who hate my guts.

Having considered that, shouldn't the BBC have considered this possibility when comissioning a Fox programme?
Sky News promoted on BBC TWO
Just a question about use of language - "promoted" on BBC2? Take into account the fact it's a Fox produced programme - therefore they would have had easier access to a NewsCorp channel than ITV or BBC or even CNN. Quietening the cynic in me, I don't think it was a promotion as such, just a matter of ease.Having considered that, shouldn't the BBC have considered this possibility when comissioning a Fox programme?

So in that sense I'm right. Now stop posting stupid personal jibes. It's getting boring.

Actually it's not wrong. I respected him up until the Iraq war. Now I don't. Ergo, he was once-respected and now isn't - by me. And I'm not the only one. Polls have shown trust in the Prime Minister to have fallen since the June 2001 election as a result of the Iraq war. Speculation is rife that he will call a general election before the numbers become too low - possibly November 2004. Speculation is also rife, although it's unlikely, that after such an election and a John Kerry win in America, that Tony would have NO crediblity on the international stage and would step down for Gordon. So in that sense I'm right. Now stop posting stupid personal jibes. It's getting boring.

Brief Diversion
Journalism Purists' (i.e. living in dreamland) Sidenote: Last year there was a huge argument about Fox/Sky/News Corp on the Falmouth journalism forum - a lot of first-years couldn't see anything wrong with Murdoch's plan for world domination, his clear usage of his organs (newspapers etc) to make political statements, criticism of the BBC etc. It's sad but true that we have owners of corporations with huge financial interest commandeering newspapers like the Times and NotW - both of which existed long before NewsCorp - for personal gains. In Private Eye they have a great semi-regular section called "I Sky" in which they highlight NewsCorp hacks promoting Sky products / services like Sky+ and Sky Sports, even promoting crappy Sky One programs as "groundbreaking". Because Murdoch's power reaches far beyond one shore - Australia, Asia, US and UK - he is allowed to get away with a lot that Richard Desmond couldn't possibly hope to with his Express / Star / OK!. It's fascinating to note that The Sun got an explicit mention in a Fox-produced American drama (Buffy - Season 3 "Amends"). The only way Murdoch's empire will fall is if we stop subscribing to Sky, (best multi-channel platform) stop buying the Sun (10million readers), stop watching Fox-produced movies (one of the top studios), refuse to read Harper Collins' books (respected publisher) or kill all his sons and daughters (murder, life imprisonment.

FOX News' claim on ads on their channel....
IIRC they call it Fair and Balanced to "balance" the US news channel output against the "leftist liberal" majority in the US media.Brief Diversion

Two degrees of sci-fi - domestic and extra-terrestrial. JPark is an earth-bound sci-fi film, as opposed to 2001: ASO or Close Encounters. Truth be told, sci-fi nowadays is inexorably linked to space and aliens and or both. (ET is an extra-terrestrial film despite being set totally on Earth)
