Good on Huw for speaking common sense. It's ridiculous to even put people like him and other BBC journalists in the same group with the likes of Cuomo, Lemmon, Stelter etc.
Besides, it's not only CNN primetime that's full of opinionated talking heads. It has spread to daytime, especially with Brianna Keilar who now regularly has her little monologues where she preaches her wisdom and takes jabs at her FOX News people. All this in a midday slot. But it's working since she's getting good ratings, praise from management and is slowly, but surely, squeezing out Brooke Baldwin.
Brooke Baldwin does them as well, does she not? The only CNN hosts that come to mind who don't regularly do this sort of stuff is Christine Romans on Early Start as well as Jim Sciutto and Poppy Harlow on their morning Newsroom block.
I suppose it comes down to what should and shouldn't be allowed - I see the merit in having analysis and discussion on the air but I'm not sure what 'the line' is?
Are you allowed to say the President of the United States is lying? What do you call what happened at the Capitol on Jan 6? Protest, riot, insurrection, white supremacy, domestic terror attack?
