The Circle

Well they've got Hunter from Gladiators in the civilian version, catfishing as an NHS nurse (which seems a bit iffy), but I think he is playing for an NHS charity.

The Circle

It was the same with the Netflix US series - the show has such a strong identity that a sudden switch to a studio show feels out of place when the winner could be revealed at the final dinner party.

Certainly a place for a "live show" element to chat to eliminees and dissect things further but think it would work better as a separate spin-off show than within the main show.

The Celeb version though did work much better than I thought it would and an extra couple of episodes would have been nice but would rather they keep it to around a week with the celebs not taking their fee than extending it to 2-3 weeks and them being paid.

Some bbc Alba games were also on bbc2 Scotland so that may return. But would such a deal allow for games on bbc2 wales and bbc2 northern Ireland as well?

I'd imagine Sky may have exclusive English language rights and anything else FTA would be limited to S4C, BBC Alba and TG4.

That said though I believe the English language commentary option has returned to the S4C games in recent months.

Comic Relief 2021

Shame that like Children in Need the main show it cut to just three hours, though unlike CiN it does continue with a Later special on BBC2 and content after the news on BBC1. The prizeathon though just feels more ITV daytime than BBC telethon - I know they have given away prizes in recent years but it's usually just something that crops up every hour, not gets it's own show.

Surely with most comedians not having the opportunity to perform over the last year concentrating on live comedy in the late night slot would have been a better use of the time.

Piers Morgan to leave GMB

To be fair I think the "Who's presenting nonsense" over this week at least is relevant to Piers quitting.

Dancing on Ice 2021

The one week hiatus really seemed to hurt the ratings.

Bank Balance

Was refreshing to learn that the celebs on The Circle aren't getting paid considering the tens of thousands shells out on I'm a Celeb and Big Brother.

I think Bank Balance ultimately fails because it's not as fun to watch as it might be too play. Ramsey said he devised it himself and they played with a prototype during lockdown, but it's a very different experience watching it. Someone joked early on about it being "cash buckeroo" and that is exactly why it fails - buckeroo isn't designed for people to complete.

Piers Morgan to leave GMB

Ben was always going to be the short term solution - whether he is the long term solution remains to be seen. Ideally they'd find someone who can partner with Susanna four days a week.

I suspect the next few weeks will just be the usual holiday cover but after Easter they may test some potential partnerships out with Susanna.

The Big Breakfast is back!

Reduced to £4.95m now, so £800k off the original £5.75m.

Sadly suspect it's more likely to feature on Location, Location, Location than the revival. Indeed the interior probably isn't quite right anyway - they'd almost have to build a set inside it.

Piers Morgan to leave GMB

Victoria Derbyshire feels plausible. Not too sure why people can’t see her working with Susanna?

I just think they've got three strong female options within GMB already who would likely get the role ahead of Victoria, with Ranvir probably the favoured of the three. I think Victoria and Susanna would actually be too similar. It is noticeable though that when you look at the broadcast news media there are far more female names in the mix now than male names.

As for moving Susanna on - nowhere really for ITV to put her as I suspect she is best suited to news rather than elsewhere on daytime. After what happened with Mark & Julie they might be willing to give Mary Nightingale the boot to create a slot for her on the Evening News, but can't see it to be honest. The only other role would be replacing Julie standing outside to introduce Tonight alongside a couple of other primetime projects, but can't see that happening either.

Ben may be willing to up to three days a week now he is not with Sky Sports and they must have hundreds of Tipping Point episodes in the bag - they are still showing "new" pre-covid episodes despite being one of the first shows to resume filming post-covid.

Murray Walker has died.

Quite surprised it wasn't Sir Murray Walker to be honest.

They even showed a new covid safe episode of Pointless on Saturday - possibly the first since the Christmas episode.
