Oh dear. One Direction featuring in the headlines at 6.01 and then we're reminded at 6.08 "all the latest" on them is coming up just before 7.

Daybreak relaunch with Lorraine and Aled

I watched Daybreak this morning (not often I do) and I still found Aled quite uncomfortable to watch when linking to VT's etc. Listening to Lorraine talking X Factor saying how good somebody was, was painful. A benefit of both taking school holidays is Matt and Kate being a pair to watch out for.

Peter Grant seemed to cover the void left by Trai Anfield. Now it seems the cost-cutting comes into effect. Presumably Hannah or Paul will do alternating days instead of half and half?

As of this morning, it's back to normal, with 6.07 bulletin from National Desk (as well as Lunchtime). All other bulletins are from LT set.


I wonder why they all don't come from the London set now there in the same studio! Obviously before it was for practically reasons as the Presneter couldn't travel between floors but now surely it's just a case of walking over?


There is more than just the presenter walking over, cameras etc would have to be repositioned, presumably it's easier not to do this for a short bulletin. The late bulletin may be an exception with more staffing.

Maybe it was nerves with the new setup but Nina's delivery wasn't as polished like it normally is... Give it a day or two.

The entire set is virtual. It looks good but virtual sets annoy me when done in the way they have been. I hope this isn't the version of the set to be rolled out across the regions due to go HD.

Interestingly I put Granada Reports back on and they were using an ITV News correspondent in Wigan. Maybe reporter sharing isn't going to be isolated to London.


I'd imagine this is a temporary measure to some extent until December.
