ITV News: Rotas & Presenters

It's the summer, James Mates is probably on holiday.

We haven't seen the likes of Steve Scott or Natasha Kaplinsky behind the desk for some time, so I'm guessing if James Mates is unavailable on Sunday nights al will be used more, now Charlene is going on maternity leave pretty soon and Ranvir Singh hasn't done a weekend bulletin for a while

I suspect it might be...he hasn't done a weekday (non bank holidays) bulletin for quite a while

I'm guessing we'll be seeing more of the likes of Nina and James hosting the evening news in Mary's absence while Charlene's on maternity leave, as Ranvir is also political editor for GMB so it's not every week she can appear, whilstd Al only hosts Wednesday onwards.

Charlene can't be far from leaving to go on maternity leave, she's looks even more radiant since she became pregnant the current team really do bring the news to life each has their signature way but all have a great warmth which shines through.

Shame they don't use the excellent Faye Barker more

It's a shame the likes of Romily Weeks and Steve Scott aren't used as often as both are underrated newscasters

EastEnders

I think EastEnders though is quite a different beast to the ITV soaps - switching from Emmerdale to Corrie isn't that big a step (and indeed it's a step many have taken) but I think the expectations of the EastEnders audience is actually quite different - more storyline focused than character focused.

The new character additions on EE are actually quite promising and there's still exciting twists, I can see why they got rid of Ronnie & Roxy as their characters were tired and overused, but the way they was killed off was quite poor, and it's also a shame he axed some promising characters such as Aunt Babe, Claudette & Les.

EastEnders

No I think she has made Corrie a terrible program, with the awful storyline she has created as welll as awful characters Daniel Osbourne for instance.
The BBC should really try and get Kate Oakes over from ITV. She's been successful in turning around Emmerdale and now Corrie which had an awful blip a couple of years back.

But that's just my opinion.

Good Morning Britain

So what's the situation with Sean Fletcher? Every time I watch GMB he's nowhere to be seen. Apart from when he covers the news role now and again.

Sean is too bland any way, Darren Lewis was much better than him.

I hope they use Phillipa Tomson like they did last summer to cover newsreader again, hopefully Louisa James might get a go too again.

The Yorkshire and Lincolnshire Thread

Finally Gaynor is having a night off, and they let Claire Ashforth have a go again alongside John Shires, ps Calendar really need to find a full time GMB Presenter, today we had Michael Billington, so 5 presenters of the early bulletin, why not just give the role to Sally Simpson, and keep Gaynor on the main programme on Friday evenings and whenever Christine is away, as well as the late bulletins .

I wonder if Ian was originally planned to present today or if he's a late substitute given that he made the report that led the programme on police raids this morning? It's rare these days for the presenter to have been reporting the same day.

Ian was on last night too, he might be on all week.

Meanwhile on calendar GMB this morning it was James Webster again, so presumably he is now a regular cover presenter for the bulletin.

The new NEW Central West and BBC Midlands thread

Hannah from Channel TV returns to Jersey in 2 weeks. Interesting decision that Matty Teale is taking over GMB bulletins for 2 days so will be full time at Central. Balvinder returning from maternity leave for duty Wednesday to Friday with GMB bulletins.

Steve Klamp is a lot better than Matt, so hopefully we will now see Steve more on the main programme rather than Matt.

Good Morning Britain

Following the announcement of the death of Martin McGuinness, we've seen a breaking news wipe in the same colour and style as the 'live' one we saw yesterday, and we've seen that the ticker goes red and features the words 'breaking news' repeated across the length of it when major news breaks. Interestingly, the flipper has simply read 'Tuesday 21st March 2017' since the news broke.

7am open, just read that headline from the desk then straight to that story, well they was running a hit behind anyway, and they drafted in some unknown reporter for it

ITV News

Seems to be any excuse now - think that's the third time in two months and I suspect they'll abandon it on Grand National Day as well. Wouldn't be surprised to see weekend regional news scrapped completely before long, and if that happens the off-peak weekday bulletins would be next, though I suspect the 6pm programme would be too big a PSB commitment to get rid of - for now anyway.

Then if that was to happen a lot of regional news reporters, newsreaders, camera men/women, producers, journalists, weather forecasters, etc losing there jobs.
Certain regions have freelance presenters who only present on weekends.
