Newsreader & Reporter thread

As well as a few more of the male newsreaders incase of the regulars becoming ill:

Arrow Phillip Hayton
Arrow Simon McCoy
Arrow Bill Turnbull (I dont think ive ever seen him do a single headed bulletin apart from Christmas Day)
Arrow Chris Eakin (I think he would be good on BBC One and its not as if he's new to it because of the simulcast after greg dykes resignation)
Arrow Dermot Murnaghan (Done a few already but could do more)
Arrow Peter Sissons
Arrow Matthew Amroliwala
Arrow Chris Lowe (Used to Network News)

One woman that has been missed out:

Arrow Moira Stuart (despite being "the last of the continuity Newsreaders" she can still keep the crowds coming in so to speak)

Any Other Possible Replacements?

Bill and Sian on tonights 6 then but Sian is taking the lead presenter role! Razz Very Happy

Simon McCoy's arrival on Breakfast will probably help, because there will be an extra presenter to fill in whenever Bill is required on the 6.

Im not sure if this has been posted anywhere else but Simon McCoy presented Weekend 24 today with Jules. I only saw 15 minutes but he looks like he will be a good asset to Breakfast/Weekend 24

Bob Monkhouse dies

Truely Sad News on the passing of Bob Monkhouse. One of Britains best comedic talents has gone, BBC or ITV should show a tribute programme or a Bob Monkhouse Night. Such talent, and comedic genius should be rewarded and not forgotten.

George Alagiah on BBC One with the pointer for News 24 actually now showing the studio.

Im quite offended that he hasn't wished us a Merry Christmas!!! Shocked Is this not allowed these days in a multi-cultural country??

did like this tho! Laughing

If i remember correctly last Christmas eve when Anna Ford presented the three bulletins the only one she wished us Merry Xmas on was the late bulletin, even with a christmas tree on the screen. So maybe George will do the same later this evening when he finishes the bulletin, if not then i dont know.

Does any one know who will be presenting the national news on BBC One on Christmas day? Will it be a regular national presenter or a N24 presenter? That must be the worst day in the year to be a newsreader since you would be stuck at TVC all day and much of the news stories on Dec 25th are about Christmas celebrations - all of which you are missing out on.

And don't forget all the other members of staff who will be manning the studios to bring you your christmas entertainment

I feel sorry for those foreign correspondents who work in countries that do not celebrate Christmas or in a different climate. As well as those who will be producing reports for the channels all day. Isnt it just a regular day for BBC World because of their worldwide grasp and not being allowed to show biased to a religous holiday.

Has Huw mentioned anything yet about the change of scenery?

BBC World should Simulcast with News 24 more often

And thinking more long term........will there be implications for tomorrow mornings programmes..........e.g. Breakfast, and European Breakfast on BBC World.......could we have another possible simulcast

Poppys on the News

I was wondering what the BBC's stance on Poppys was this year. I was watching World News on News 24 this morning, and Lyse Doucet was wearing a poppy, would she have to remove this when she presents the world bulletins again or have World presenters/guests been allowed to wear them this year.

Well remember it isnt the first time a presenter has presented breakfast then gone on to present the Six O Clock News, Sian has done it before

Even Michael Buerk did breakfast one day during the summer and went on to do the Ten the same day.

Similarly, I feel sorry for Mark Simpson (Ireland correspondent) because he has been on Breakfast since 6, and he is still on doing the Six and I bet he will still be on during the Ten. I know journalists have unsocial hours but working over fifteen hours a day is a little strenuous.

Has that world presenter on Rob's clip been taking lessons from Peter Gibbs by the way? Watch the closing headlines and you'll see what I mean....

Do you mean the part at the beginning where she starts in a high voice when she says "and now a reminder of the main news" and then all of a sudden immediately goes deep when she starts the headlines
