BBC Breakfast

I think it would be good on Breakfast if there was a dedicated newspaper review section like on weekend Breakfast. They could appoint a dedicated reviewer or bring in a new guest to review each day. They dont spent long on the papers, its usually just a quick "look at the front pages" and then onto something else.

Maxine & Chris on 4-7

I could have sworn seeing Tim Willcox and Maxine Mawhinney on News 24 the other day from 1 - 7, i thought that maybe this was to do with the live reports from Boscastle, but then I saw Jane and Peter at 7 and thought how odd it seemed to be doing saturday shift hours.

BBC News: New Set or Not

I think it would be nice if BBC National News programme adopted a similar scheme of sets like they did back in the 1980s early 1990s. Where the one o clock news was white with the long desk. The six O Clock news which was blue and different titles and music, and the nine o clock news which had the newsroom view. Also each had their own music and graphics. But what I am suggesting would be to give each programme its own looks utilizing the current sets and music, little tweaks could be made to the set for each programme such as maybe a different shade of red, or a different Newsroom image behind the presenter, even some tweaks to the graphics, just to make each programme seem its own but without undoing all the effort the BBC has put into this evolution of a brand.

christmas telly

Hopefully this years Christmas Day schedules on the BBC will be worth while. Theres plenty of good programmes that could have christmas specials made. My Family (another funny one), Top of the Pops (with all the interactive Karaoke elements), Eastenders (maybe if Christmas was happier in Albert Square then they would win back some viewers, but when has Christmas in Albert Square been happy). Even the Eastenders Christmas special last year when they had all the pop acts and cast members singing was good, perhaps more should be done. Would love to see Noels Christmas Presents return, certainly brings a tear to your eye and makes you think about those who are not as fortunate at christmas. Not to mention all the family films that are shown on Xmas Day whether repeats or not. Maybe less of the tacky programmes at christmas would be a good thing such as the quiz show specials, especially the ones from the previous years. But there are some TV christmas traditions that should never die. James Bond film on ITV, Queens Speech, Morning Service from a huge cathedral, Morecambe and Wise Christmas Special, Childrens cartoons starting at about 4am for those that are wondering if "HE" has been.

christmas telly

Mr-Stabby posted:
Anyone who wants to watch Harry Potter though would have had it on video or DVD already lol.

I bet you ITV will fight for Lord of the Rings though

That would get the ratings battle going, but it depends on a few things. How BBC/ITV advertise it, if one advertises with a big christmas family film, and the other just plonks it in the tv guide without any acknowledgment then the big advertiser will get the ratings, also it depends on which has a bigger following.

christmas telly

Havent the BBC scored Harry Potter & The Philosophers Stone for this years big christmas terrestrial premiere. A good family film which could guarentee the BBC the run of the Christmas Day ratings.

And isnt it a bit early to be talking about Christmas, cant we wait til the first of September. Laughing

Best BBC presenter

its gotta be the dynamic duo Buerk and Sissons, I know Buerk doesnt present much anymore but he's the legend that sparked off Live Aid. Not many newsreaders can say that one of their reports sparked a Worldwide charity concert and fund.

BBC Weather presenters

I was wondering who did the weather on todays one o clock news, because I saw John Hammond on News 24 at just before three O Clock and then at 25 past three Sarah Wilmshurst. Then on the six o clock news John was back, i was wondering if Sarah had to go home sick or something because usually the person who takes over from the morning/early afternoon person usually does the six and ten weather.

And on an unrelated note, did anybody see the trailers on MTV a few weeks ago with a mock weather forecast presented none other than John Kettley (I think thats how you spell it), I wonder why the BBC got rid of him/or he left because he was a good forecaster, up there in the realms of Michael Fish, Carol Kirkwood, and Rob McElwee
