Will the BBC rebrand for the big move to BH?

Does anyone know what is happening at Television Centre, and in the surrounding area? Is some of it being closed off/sold. I assume Bush House is for the chop too.

Anyone else think it is dumb for Five Live (Live News) to leave the BBC Newsroom and go to Manchester?

Favourite Ident

1. The final TVS revolve.
2. The first Central cake (you know, without too much colour), especially in its Central News guise.
3. The LWT Genesis
4. The whole LWT 1997 set.
5. The blue LWT videowall.

NFL on ITV

I think this is a complete disaster. five are just as likely to tell the NFL where to put their regular season coverage. Sky might pick up the SNF/MNF, although NASN getting it would be good.
Overall, a *big* mistake by the NFL. Their new best buddies at ITV will never do as good a job as five (even though there was room for improvement with five).

Either the NFL Sunday/Monday ticket needs to become a reality, or NASN (or Sky) needs to be given the live stuff if five does not want it.

Overall, a *bad* decision. Well done NFL.

Brainstorming ident ideas for BBC One

I know we are talking about a smaller subject set, but NASN do this. The Nascar ident before Nascar, the Football ident before football etc. They are all similar layouts and the same music, but if they can do it, the vast resources of Auntie can.

Sky News Mini re-launch

I've listened several times and...
It's rubbish. I liked the old one. I thought SNT was pacy and I would not have minded that replacing the old one. The new one is ****, plain and simple.

Should ITV1 repeat Crossroads MK1?

I read some time ago that they really had no idea what was in the Central archives or not, and in what condition it was in. It would be some job for someone to try to find the old Crossroads.

Also, don't forget when it was on satellite a few years ago, they only showed the last few - they didn't go far back.

ITV1 New Look

Does anyone else think the ITV brand has been seriously damaged by the ITV Digital fiasco? Joe and Joanne Public will throw mud at ITVD and it will stick to ITV1 as well. Anyone fancy a return to not mentioning ITVanything for a few years whilst people forget how ITV made x (enter number of your choice) football clubs go bankrupt (even if they were going to anyway!!!)

ITV1 rebrand

I reckon the whole ITV brand is now tarnished. I suspect that all the negative publicity until now (and probably yet more to come) will do serious hard to the ITV brand, and no amount of re-launches will repair it. For a while, they had taken ITV as a brand as turned it from a laughing stock into a serious brand. I suspect now that they would be better forgetting any ITV lead branding, and heavily promote the regions, using regionalised generic branding if they like, but without too much reliance on ITV as a brand-name. Will never happen of course. Uncles Granada and Carlton know best. NOT!

Shop closing today?

Shop was dire. No further comment needed, but......
Well, don't start throwing things at me when I say this.....
I have rather enjoyed the last few days. They don't seem to care (and why should they), they are all having a laugh, showing each others mess-ups, and generally messing about. I think that is how TV home shopping should be - amusing with a few selly-bits in the middle.

Purely for the last few days, the shop presenters have class. Good luck all.

i t v DIGITAL is almost gone now!

You know, a bit of both I think. If DTT signals were stronger, with less breakup, and slightly less compression, I think the platform would have been more attractive. Whilst most of the blame should be laid at ITVD management, I think the government should take its fair share of criticism, and should speed up the DTT equalisation programme it started *very slowly* last year.

If you were a TV provider, would you want to pay cash to run a pay DTT service with coverage in the state it is now?
