Thanks, Bail. That BBC Parliament 2009 package is amazing - do you happen to have the "breakfiller" music from that package too, please?

Last Orders

I've always been on the look out for anything from the BBC World Services' 2007 identity package...! Particularly Europe Today and The World Today.

I second this! If anyone has anything from the David Arnold / David Lowe / Mcasso packages, please, I would be very grateful!
Same with the current Newshour theme, I don't know who composed it.

Thank you!

BBC to move more roles outwith London

Is it not only the BBC World Service radio business that is moving to Salford, not the entire business unit, as you’re implying, which frankly makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Of all the units to be moved to Salford, why the World Service? Surely that's the one department where a "London-centric" bias is more important?
"Live from Salford" doesn't really seem to hold the same authority as "Live from London"..

The BBC announce Local Election plans

DTV posted:
Anyway, nice of the BBC to remember that elections are taking place, they certainly didn't remember last week when the Dutch general election didn't even get a mention.

It was talked about on the World Service last week
I feel like most of the domestic audience wouldn't be too interested in the Dutch elections - especially when a lot of people can't be bothered to vote in elections here!

BBC to move more roles outwith London

I think it's begun on Today. Nick Robinson is in Newcastle, and Mishal Husain is in London.
Sounds like a bit of a mouthful for Mishal to say.

(although I think Nick lives somewhere up North anyways, he was in one of the cities when broadcasting from home)

BBC Newsline

Pun not intended? Very Happy

I think I've seen a similar "half-globe" (don't know their actual name) being used elsewhere, can't remember where though

TVF Confessions

.............I'll admit that I've never really been someone who watches TV, spending most of my time listening to Radio 4/World Service. BBC World 1997 music was lovely but I feel that if it were still being used you'd all be calling it tired, like David Lowe's pips

I wonder if you are old enough to remember these Radio 4 "jingles" that were on in the late 1970s?

I'm afraid I'm far too old to remember any of those!
All my memories of Radio 4 are sadly jingle-less.

TVF Confessions

It's such a beautiful piece of music - yet so dramatic. I can't help but feel like this would be perfect for World Service Radio.

I'd personally like David Lowe's old music back on World Service English - they were very catchy and those three notes were a strong sonic logo for the BBC.. I've even found myself whistling them sometimes...
They replaced the TOTH sequence with some generic music I think around 2014, which was a huge downgrade.
"Wherever you are, you're with the BBC" is a much stronger tagline than "This is the BBC World Service, the world's radio station"
Parts of it are still used on some foreign language services.

Maybe there's a slight hint of nostalgia there of when I was younger listening to the World Service, but what they have currently doesn't feel very cohesive. Although you could argue that Newshour not using David Lowe's music defeats my argument a bit, David Arnold's theme was majestic; I've even got it as my ringtone so I'll let it slide Very Happy It's a shame both packages weren't as documented as the ones on television were - I would like to find them in clearer audio one day haha

In terms of TV, I think the Circles were fine, but they were getting rather uninspiring. The 2007 mix was the best version of the BBC News music. I'll admit that I've never really been someone who watches TV, spending most of my time listening to Radio 4/World Service. BBC World 1997 music was lovely but I feel that if it were still being used you'd all be calling it tired, like David Lowe's pips
