BBC HD Test Card Special Final Broadcast

A pity they couldn't fit 'Windmills' in to the mix.

Was it filmed in HD?

Advertising on BBC3?

Did you think they were genuine film ads? The one with Tobey Maguire was one of the funniest spoof trailers I've seen in a long time!

Why are they not using the new US logo?

Probably because it's dreadful!

Emmerdale

Would make sense to do it at the same time, what's the hold up? It's been filmed in HD for over a year. Has the transmission suite in Leeds still not completed yet?

Coronation Street

I studied her poetry a few years back in school, they fell into 2 categories; her 80's stuff which slagged off Thatcher and the Conservative government, which was incredibly powerful, and the wishy washy feminist 'men are morons' poetry which are mediocre and look like something written to appease Germaine Greer than to challenge society. The Corrie poem was tame, but you wouldn't expect a poet laureate to be anything but mild, tame and family friendly. Possibly one of the most useless positions ever, why would you ever need official, state sponsored poetry in this day and age?

Britain's Got Talent 2011

Yes, that wasn't my question though. I'm not that au-fait with the way the programme works, is there a mathematical problem with having an even number of judges in the live show in the way there was when they tried it last time?

It's not so much of an issue at the finals stage. I can only remember one or two instances where a contestant was buzzed off in all 4 series. All he'll really do is pass comment, and will be interesting to see what he thinks of the people who have been put through when he isn't in control of the process.

BBC One HD This Autumn

Surely it would make sense to use Sky Channel 117, after BBC Four, if it's owned by the beeb.

Snooker World Open - HD

Just been watching the World Open snooker on both BBC and Eurosport, and it appears that it is filmed in HD, as shown on Eurosport. However, it isn't in HD on the BBC, which is even more strange considering it has to be a better alternative to the BBC HD preview. Why are the BBC filming in HD and not utilising it? Are they, like Match of the Day, waiting for a move to Salford next year?

Radio Times new look

Who'd have thought 2 months ago it would still be as bad, it's even worse with alternative schedules now due to the World Cup. Good to see the new editor has listened to peoples opinions. Rolling Eyes

GMTV (1993 - 2010)

I'm quite amazed how quickly ITV have adopted HD this year... very late in the day compared with the US and Oz but we are getting there slowly

I presume it is because they now have a presence on Sky, there wasn't a huge amount of point when they were on the red button for the few Freesat HD viewers they had, plus the soon to launch presence on Freeview HD. Now, more than a few months ago, is the time to start ramping up HD content, and giving the Beeb the kick up the backside it needs to speed up its HD offerings.

Never really been keen on the GMTV name, possibly due to the fond memories I have of TV-AM, so a fresh start is a good idea. They never really recovered from the phone-in scandal, so a clean break would probably make more sense, and give the stale offerings on UK breakfast TV a much needed revamp, especially if they go all out for promoting it, which they inevitably will. Maybe, just maybe, this, in effect, new breakfast show will offer Breakfast some competition and a new audience (especially those from The Big Breakfast generation).

World Cup footy on the BBC1 live stream?

Roughly what time will these matches be on TV?

Since South Africa isn't too far away in terms of time zones, they shouldn't be much difference to the UK, wouldn't surprise me if they kicked off at 5 and 7.30pm BST, as has become traditional in recent years, which will probably get the pubs rubbing their hands (especially since the 2014 world cup in Brazil will be shown mostly in the middle of the night).
