I also think a bolder font for 'five' would work much better.
Five 2021 Logo Concepts
Mandy try redesigning the 'USA', 'select' and 'star' graphics. As you've taken then from the current logos and the fonts don't really do well together.I also think a bolder font for 'five' would work much better.

I'm sure I've heard someone say that the 'Great British Bake Off' is the 'greatest' bake off in Britain rather than the bake off for the island of Great Britain.
GB News Launches on Social Media
I think with just 'Britain' it's different as it is an alternative name to the UK. But 'Great Britain' it refers to the Island with most of England, Wales and Scotland. So GMB reffers to the whole UK but GBN is talking about just England, Scotland and Wales.I'm sure I've heard someone say that the 'Great British Bake Off' is the 'greatest' bake off in Britain rather than the bake off for the island of Great Britain.

That's interesting. I wonder if more programmes will transition across.

I have the colored logo here, if anyone's interested:
Where did that come from?
The Sky News Thread
Talking of this 'imminent' new look.
Within the last few days Sky News and Sky News HD have been added to BT TV through the NowTV entertainment pass and BT is now showing a new style logo on their EPG.
Sky News | NowTV (313):
Sky News HD | NowTV (385):
The Freeview stream still using the current version.

Really. That's brilliant. This has been one of the only things I've been annoued about with BT. I'll be watching Sky News slightly more now.
More annoying though is the fact that the Now TV channel logos are tiny because they have to fit in the NOW logo. Of they were to remove that it would make for a much better user experience.
NOW TV
I note that Sky News has been added to NOW TV Entertainment. As a result of this Sky News HD is now available on BT TV channel 385.

They are using the same logo as in the press releases. But they have added some Sky News esque additions on their header image.
No website as of yet however.
There is obviously some political talk from both sides of the conversation in the twitter comments, but these are best left on twitter.

Well. It was given to them specifically by Erron Gordon. So there must be a plan to bring it back at some point.
Good Morning Britain
Hearing that 2020 theme tune in the dance video has reminded me what a great theme it was - so fresh. Wonder if there’s a possibility of it being brought back ?

re. Southern: they had a separate 'Scene South East' broadcast on Fridays only (the final edition from December 1981, which I find rather moving, has widely been distributed and I think it's on YouTube) and, latterly, 'Scene Midweek' on Wednesdays. They might have done more if Bluebell Hill, which was needed to fill a UHF gap in Kent between Crystal Palace and Dover which hadn't applied under VHF, hadn't initially been given to Thames and LWT when it opened in 1974, and indeed they surely would have done had they stayed on because the franchise would have been largened to move closer to London whoever had won it.
Well I never knew that. I assumed they weren't equipped to supply an opt-out to the south-east
End of the road for UTV?

How any broadcast news service ever chose an uber-twee name like "Newstime" or "Lookaround" in the first place is a total mystery. Bizarre.
They come from the era when regional news was a lot twee-er, they were really magazine programmes with some news. Programmes like Day by Day or Westward Diary even had a seperate news section within them.
Day by Day in any case had to have the 'hard' news separated out, because it carried separate South and South East bulletins
I didn't think it did. Day by Day was on Southern. Which didn't have a South East opt out because it was covered by Thames.
IIRC It was only when TVS took over that a South East variant was introduced because the region grew dramatically in size.

Yeah. I've seen an image somewhere online of what the set looks like without the desk. It's a wierd semi-transparent rectangle hovering in mid air which aligns perfectly with the real life desk.
So you have the real reflections and the virtual reflections effectively done separately in their own 'worlds'.
Edit: Found it (albeit very low quality but you can see the effect)
On the left - Real and virtual 'worlds'
On the right - Final combined product.
The ITN Nostalgia Thread
My basic understanding is that the virtual set (and the video feed into the virtual screens within) were flipped vertically and aligned underneath, then a mask (correct term?) is placed over the glass top of the desk, and the tracking system allows it to stay in place, which allows the flipped set to appear through as a reflection.
Obviously glares and perspective effects may be added to make the reflection more convincing, rather than just a portal to another dimension
I think. Thats how I imagined it worked.
