Yup and once again Katie's annoying me. What was wrong with Mary [taking the day off AGAIN] and Nina?
I guess you prefer a more detached style and are not a fan of the fact that Katie, obviously a naturally expressive person, likes to follow what her co-presenter is saying/reading.
Personally I find Katie totally engaging and am always happy to see that she is presenting the programme.
Mary will be back on the EN on Thursday
(Nina may be on holiday or maternity leave).

Obviously this is just a matter of opinion and I don't particularly object to Nina's attempts to display as much cleavage as possible or her need to always tell us when she'll next be on screen, (there's certainly no doubting her ambition). What I'm not so keen on is her delivery and intonation, which is dull enough to send an insomniac on acid to sleep.
As for the shorter Lunchtime News - I liked it, unquestionably less filler, but I thought it could have done with another five minutes of national/international news. No doubt on a "slow news" day it would seem just right.

I'm glad Katie has returned from holiday, I find Nina increasingly unwatchable.

I think Katie had already opened her mouth and started to move her hands before Nick butted in, rather than it being a sign of exasperation.
I quite like the earlier suggestion of moving Nicholas Owen to the Evening News (or perhaps the 10:30?) but I doubt Mark Austin would agree.

The Radio Times doesn't show who will be presenting the Lunchtime News, as usual, but hopefully Katie will be back, (after all her holiday did start a week before Mary's).
Edit: added a quote of the Londoner's message as my one ended up on a new page.

If it was to be shortened I would rather it was to 30 minutes (effectively 25 once the breaks have been taken into account), with the local news as a separate 10 - 15 minute programme.
Also, I don't see a problem continuing with two presenters, otherwise Katie would be my first choice with Nick as cover.
Just about every bulletin has been dominated by events in the Lebanon, (it even featured on today's London Tonight), so it's probably not a representative week for making comparisons of that kind.
ITV Lunchtime News moves to 1.30; cut to 30mins
I appear to be in the minority as far as this forum is concerned but I don't think the current format is all that bad, particularly given the schedule that it is designed to fit into. I can't think of any likely replacement that I'd rather see fill the time made available by it being shortened. If it was to be shortened I would rather it was to 30 minutes (effectively 25 once the breaks have been taken into account), with the local news as a separate 10 - 15 minute programme.

Well a vague recollection misquoting someone who misquoted something they may or may not have heard on The Day Today would be sufficient basis for an extradition to the US.
A personal opinion about individual presenters would never feature amongst my favourite topics for a post but please forgive me as I couldn't resist...
I agree that Alastair Stewart is very good but I don't understand the fascination that some people have with Nina. I would much rather watch and listen to Katie or some of the former News Channel people such as Felicity Barr or Carrie Frais.

I have just watched the video on the ITN home page; it's slickly produced and the concept is OK but I think they have overdone their efforts to represent the "common man" with the voiceover. Given that ITN employs a number of people with fine speaking voices they must have searched far and wide (and been wearing earplugs

Love Katie Derham's intro to this Monday lunchtime's ITV bulletin:
"Now for 'Three Degrees from Disaster' - that's the rise in degrees it would take to cause disaster."
Glad she cleared that one up
My goodness, she really said that?
I'm actually laughing...
No, she didn't.
Despite the quotes Framescourer is paraphrasing. To be fair to Framescourer he has the gist of the introduction but to be equally fair to whoever wrote the original it was a little less clumsy:
"It's time to update you on our unique climate change series Three Degrees From Disaster because once temperatures rise by that much it will spell environmental disaster for our world."
