seeing as the power wasn't fully restored for a couple of days!

And in fact isn't fully restored now. The News Centre is still on reduced power.

Still on reduced power? How much longer is this likely to carry on for?

The plan is to switch back overnight Wednesday/Thursday.

But your original comment said that they'd included "prerecorded and repeated" material for the best part of the day. They didn't, they still produced a rolling news channel for 7 out of the out hours during which TVC was badly affected by the power cut

Yes, I have corrected myself, mean't a reduced service for best part of day, repeated material for a short time.

And that's another annoying thing - when people spark a debate, then go back a couple of hours later and change what they'd written. The discussion will now seem very bizarre to anyone who's been out all day, and tries to catch up on the forum this evening. They'll all be wondering why people were criticising you for something it now appears you never said. Far better surely just to post a clarification later on.

Source is: Anthony Barnes, Showbusiness Editor, PA News

Don't you think it would have been a good idea to include this information in your original post?

Firstly it would have given us all a chance to make up our minds about whether it was a valid story or not, and secondly it's not very fair on PA to use an entire story without attribution.

At the end of the Today programme, Sarah Montague said there wasn't a fire after all. There was some kind of power problem which produced a lot of smoke, and Stage VI had to be evacuated.

Well hopefully that purple chair stays part of the pilot and not the final set!

The purple chairs have already been replaced.

Looking at that picture, it looks as though they might have used part of the old set to mock up the background. The new one wouldn't have been built by then anyway.

Is the dark area with the tv screens behind Jon's right shoulder the same black area currently centre in the background on the current n24 set?

No.

Just to clarify a few things,

There are two sets, but they're now side by side, not opposite each other.

There are big screens at either side of the desk set, and there's a much beefier big screen in the other set. It looks as though all are back projection.

Incidentally, although the new set is in the same area of the newsroom, it's been turned around, so the area at the back is different.

If only I had a picture of the studio - even if it was a blurred one Sad

If you had the picture, you'd probably be disappointed. It's only two inches square, and half of it is taken up with Jon Sopel.

Is this in that magazine or can I see it online? I'm p*ssing myself here so please be quick Razz I wanna see, I wanna see, I wanna pee, I wanna see...

It's in the paper, not online. Someone else will have to do the scanning honours this time...

Why can't you? It would be helpful to all us without access to the BBC bible.

Firstly, I'm a bit busy, and secondly the logo came out in such bad quality, you wouldn't get much from the photo, because the original is already a bit soft-focus.

Adam - it's in the same Ariel. The paper comes out every Tuesday.

The whole "globe and headlines at the toth" thing sounds like its gunna replace there countdown. It sounds like a breakfiller instead leading upto the hour?

From the Ariel article I posted yesterday:

Quote:
with dynamic images of life across the UK in the countdown to the hourly bulletin.

So the countdown stays, but it sounds as though the images will be new.
