Don't know whether it's worth reading too much into the pecking order at the BBC.

One would have thought Sophie would have stayed on to do it after the SIX. I mean it's what George normally does, and if we are to believe the rumours about her moving to the TEN, she could probably do with a test drive! hehe Or they could have asked Sissons or Buerk.

I wouldn't have thought Jordan would have been an obvious choice.

It seems that BBC ONE SCOTLAND do not follow the usual policy of the NETWORK. They only showed about 17 seconds of the 30 second ident.

Hope that BBC ONE NORTHERN IRELAND, WALES and the NETWORK got longer screenings? Was there any reference to a new ident from the announcer?

The ITV News Channel at Midnight was a classic. The minute the clock changed over to 00.00 they fell off air, leaving us with a NTL Newmman St Testcard!

ITV1 was uneffected. The ITV News Channel returned about 5 mins later with Romilly Weeks

Why does Sophie present the One' OClock AND the Six O' Clock News nowadays (I do like Sophie by the way). I think this must be quite a strain on her considering the fact that she's just had a baby. Where's Anna Ford thses days? Is she ill or has she retired?

At long last! BBC1 Yorkshire has its own Christmas pudding ident, complete with the sparkling BBC ONE box. I was getting worried. Everywhere else seemed to be getting one.

The BBC1 Yorkshire variant of this ident was first shown before the news at 1:00PM, then again at 6:00PM and for Look North at 6:30PM. The one at 6:30PM was great, because the jolly audio of the ident continued for 5 seconds as the cameras zoomed in on Harry Gration and Christa Ackroyd behind the newsdesk - just seemed amusing (This happens with the regular idents "Skateboarders" and "Acrobats").

Don't bother, when you've seen one you've seen them all.
