2019 General Christmas election.

Has someone spotted the cable cam in the newsroom Smile

Seems to be the toy of choice this year. Sky have one too.

Future of Sky Cinema linear channels?

Sky's NOW TV is aiding the removal of linear channels by insisting on the Parental Pin on Linear Services whereas the exact same content can be watched on demand without it.

Is that Now TV's doing or a result of Ofcom allowing channels to show post-watershed programming before 9pm if they're PIN protected?

Now TV's implementation is a PIN regardless of what you're watching, even if its an attempt to watch Moana on Sky Cinema Disney. Which seems to suggest they have no way to PIN particular "programmes" like the Sky boxes can, so the compromise seems to be to PIN the lot.

There shouldn't be a PIN needed on Disney or Family.

BBC to switch off red button text

Also is the connected version available on SkyQ - I know on Sky+ only the text version was available.

Sky Q only has the text version available, which can only be accessed by the red button, as the Sky Q remote doesn’t have a text button.

Sky Q has just launched the connected red button version in the last week, coinciding with the launch of the full iPlayer streaming app.

As said previously I believe they’re using the atrium.

Yep. You can see that it's been cleared already:

2019 General Christmas election.

Sky News' election night coverage is coming from Gallery 4 at Sky Studios with Sky Central's "Innovation Centre" (basically the mezzanine opposite the GB I believe!) being used as a presentation area. Lighting rig is going up in the middle of this month with rehearsals at the end of the month.

Nope. The innovation centre is the thing underneath the glass box. Not opposite.

Britbox UK - UK SVoD Platform.

The app has just come to Samsung Tizen TVs today. The streaming quality is passable, but there's a slight fuzz to it. I also question their HD flag on certain content (like Keeping Up Appearances for example!)

I'll give it a go for a bit. There doesn't seem to be any content to really pull me in just yet though.

Good Morning Britain

The 2017 bed was used for the 8am headlines with Charlotte this morning.

To be honest, it's my favourite of all of the themes they've had.

I may be wrong, but I got the impression from Kay’s tweet that the whole channel is to undergo a brand refresh in the new year; rather than just Millbank. All the ingredients are there for it - new owners (who are also in the final stages of launching a sister news channel), a few recent new sets that all seem very temporary (relit Kay set, new business set), and a move away from the old simple news format back to the personality driven shows.

I think probably too much is being read in to that post from Burley. She's referencing the studio, so I'd take the "complete refresh" only in the context of what she's talking about and nothing more.

Could Sky be using this as an opportunity to test some of the practical and technical implications of outputting two news channels from their facilities in advance of the new international service?

If this was to lead to anything more permanent, I'd much rather see a TV service comparable to LBC London News or 1010 WINS in the U.S., in which you have a rolling news cycle of 20 minutes.

(Obviously not likely to happen, but just a thought)

Anyone remember when Sky News pretty much used to be a 15 minute wheel of news for a large part of the evening, and people hated it on here?

Strange choice of political guests. All from left parties, all remainers.

It's generally down to who they can book. The Conservatives haven't exactly been forthcoming with interviews etc lately.

New Sky channels: Crime, Comedy, Documentaries, Nature

Yet more totally Trash TV from $ky that costs them ZERO and they've got the audacity to hide it behind a paywall! Nearly all of the content is or was on a free to air equivalent. I'm more and more disillusioned with the ALL the Pay TV companies ripping us off! As soon as my contract is up I will be off to Cut The Cord!!!
Disgraceful.

Come off it sunshine - if you was *that* disillusioned with Pay TV you wouldn't have signed up in the first place.
https://www.sky.com/help/articles/cancel-sky-tv will be of use to you in the future I'm quite sure.

Well no actually. I'm with VM.
My point is that whilst yes there are some good channels with quality programming, ie Sky Witness, Universal TV, FOX, which I am more than happy to subscribe to, I am just disillusioned with the ever ongoing price hikes only to be given previously aired programming that is essentially just Freeview content masquerading as a *new* channel.
If Sky Crime was a mix of AMC, Showtime, Starz, etc and some repeated Atlantic content of top crime dramas then I would be more than happy and it might justify the ongoing price increases. Ofcourse, I get Sky Atlantic is premier quality and Sky only, but they missed a trick by not putting their 2nd/3rd run programming on Sky Crime, or maybe similar to how they utilize Sky Sports Mix.

Not quite sure what you're on about, but you should probably take your gripe up with Virgin Media if you're not happy with the value of the subscription that you're getting from them.

Noel on Strike

The next episode has been put online and they've started putting more set pieces in to make it look like more of a house.

Still terrible at this stage though.
