Sky One

There is a big problem with sky one at the moment. They have 2 channels, and they don't have enough programming to fill both of them.

Sky don't have any excuse for this channel anymore - they've got the money to produce original programming, they just have to get off the rear ends and produce it.

IMO the orange has to go too (or at least be adapted) - the channel lacks depth and originality (the colour reflects that too), and is too lager loutish now.

Come on sky, get your act together - sky movies has had 2 revamps in as many years now - what about your main channel eh?

Sky Movies Gets A New Look!

martinDTanderson posted:
I personally like it, deffinatly an evolution of the old logo, I hope the on-air look works well...

What the hell is there to like about it? It's a bit of text with an irrelevent symbol next to it. Or is it the fact that it has the Sky logo on it? Laughing

The "irrelevent symbol" looks like the edge of a strip of film if you look at it carefully. the larger rectangle on the left is where each frame of the film is with the smaller rectangles on the right being where the projector grips onto the film.

Sky News thread

yeah, i think it was mentioned earlier in the year.

I think that because Sky News has had new music, people think that the new look has been ditched. This probably isn't the case though

The recent system crashes etc could be because they are testing new systems and graphics.

They could be bringing in a ticker 24/7 aswell - they've rolled it onto the screen from 10.00am - 7.00pm - i'd say its likely that they want a 24/7 ticker because as they've been told by Murdoch to become more like fox news instead of "bbc lite"

Sidenote: I saw a Littlejohn slug used with the ticker the other day (i.e. it was a smaller slug with the Littlejohn logo on it) - indication of ticker during skynews programming perhaps.

I don't really know - maybe somebody from sky would like to enlighten the forum!

Sky News thread

Did anyone see the technical difficulties Sky News had at 2.00pm today?

The TOTH titles rolled out as normal, then the headlines started and the screen went green. Pictures came up and it carried on as normal, but then the dog disappeared from the corner of the screen and the SKYNEWS headline slidey-thingy stopped working, so they had to cut to each headline - each headline was also noticeably longer.

The pictures kept breaking up into green - and Kay and Chris (i think) tried to carry on as normal.

After the headlines, the sky news spinny globe came on, but broke up into a green screen, and the music carried on, whilst they cut to Kay - who wasn't ready!

She then announced - welcome to sky news, we're having a few technical problems, please bare with us during these difficult times.

They then lost the first report - no ticker, dog or graphics. Kay tried to read out some emails, but it just didn't seem to work, and she seemed to be getting distracted by messages in her ear.

They then attempted to go live to a reporter on location. No LIVE dog or location name, but the clock and dog had appeared by this point.

The live report started to break up - in a blocky satellite fashion, and they ditched it.

Kay then said, right I think we're going to go into a break whilst we sort out these problems (at 2:03) please bare with us, and we'll be back - new and refreshed after the break.

They cut into a break, and finally reappeared at around 2:07.

It was a complete mess, which made News24 seem professional (!) [now awaits backlash from BBC Brigade]

did anybody else see it?

Saturday Night TV

I don't really rate any of the terrestrial channels highly for saturday night entertainment any more. It just seems to have gone down a very steep hill lately.

I do occasionally watch Pop Idol if I want to laugh at the lack of talent, otherwise I see what's on sky movies and the other digital channels.

Freeview News Alert

Do you think that Fox Kids will have something to do with this, as they are due for a name change soon because Disney bought the channel out (I think) and their rights to use the Fox brand are coming to an end shortly - i think i read this somewhere. (I could have been dreaming it though)

I remember lots of speculation about it [Fox Kids] turning into an ABC Family type channel, and it's going 24/7 next month aswell.

I'm probably wrong though, and I'm babbling now too! but I just thought I'd raise this jibberish!

FX

Yes, Comedy Central is a channel in the USA but it is unlikely that it will come to the UK as a channel for the time being because FX has signed this deal - which could indicate a Comedy Central segment perhaps? And we also have the Paramount Comedy Channel too - which would be in direct competition with Comedy Central if it did launch.

Sky News Mini re-launch

i'm not sure if this has been mentioned on the forum elsewhere yet, but the Sunday with Adam Boulton Title Music has changed to match the channel identity.

It's a lot more authoritative than the piece of music which was used last week.

You can watch it now on Sky News Active
