here's a little preview of a new Sky News Mock Project I'm currently working on...

http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ajmocks/skynews/skynews2004logo.jpg

It's just a simple adaptation of the current Sky News logo for now - same colours, only slightly deeper looking and with a globe under the word "news"

Of course, this little preview may not represent the final design of my mocks!

Let me know what you think of this, or any of my other mocks, because I'd love to know what you think!

here's that swingball ident I promised you...

I was stunned myself at how well this actually came out!

The sky and the one play swingball for about 5 seconds, the one misses. Both the Sky and the One then jump up into their final slanted position and the pole swings round to its final position.

This concept could also be used as a breakbumber - with the two words playing swingball!

Please tell me what you think!

OK, I'm extremely bored today, so here's even more mocks which I have created.

This time it's the turn of Sky One...

The idea behind the ident is that the sky one logo spins around a pole for around 5 seconds until it reaches its final position...
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ajmocks/skyone/skyone1.jpg
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ajmocks/skyone/skyone2.jpg
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ajmocks/skyone/skyone3.jpg
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ajmocks/skyone/skyone4.jpg

Of course, there would also be other idents, based around a similar pole idea, but with the text doing different things - i.e. you could have the word SKY playing Swingball against the word one etc etc

And, here's a programme trailer...
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ajmocks/skyone/skyonepreview1.jpg
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ajmocks/skyone/skyonepreview2.jpg

The idea behind these is that at the end of the trailer, the words BRAND NEW would enlarge and zoom up to their final position, followed by the red and blue background. The Sky One Logo would then spin around a couple of times as the programme name / time is revealed.

Finally, here's a new Sky News Update sting for Sky One.

Please comment on my mocks - I'd love to hear what you think of them!

New - Sky One Mocks

He's not basing it on the Brochure though - he's basing it on the tv adverts and trailers for things like Nip/Tuck and the general January trailer.

Orange and black looks fine, a nice evolution of the current graphics set.

OK, Building upon the Sky One Update mocks you saw earlier, I have created a sting which would be played into and out of the bulletin.

I haven't catered for safe areas at the moment, it's just to give you an idea...
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ajmocks/skyonenewssting.jpg

my inspiration for this mock came from the current style of Sky News adverts airing at the moment. The globe in the backround would be continually spinning, whilst the white line would wipe down the screen and the sky one logo would zoom out onto its final location.

News Update would then peek out of the Sky One Logo, and the Date and Time would animate on as text does on the Sky News Adverts.

The music played would be the Sky News intro music that plays between the headlines and the programme, and that big voice would say "Sky News Update with Mark Longhurst - or whoever else is presenting it.

The headline bed would then play throughout the update.

Again, the sting would be played out by the output channel (as with the graphics) and the music and voiceover are generic - so timing for the networks is everything!

Let me know what you think!

And then things went bizarre. Remember the Anthea Turner and Patrick Kielty show, oh what was it called.

Wasn't it something like "The National Lottery Big Ticket"?? Confused

Here's another Studio Mock - only this time its for the BBC.

The idea behind this studio is that it would be used for the Daytime bulletins on BBC1.

Arrow BBC Daytime News

Again, the picture on the video screen would change to relate to the story being presented.

Thanks to MockMan for the BBC Newsroom, and to The TV Room for the Video Screen Image.

I'll have a go at some astons for this soon.

The National Lottery

the BBC should ditch Lottery Game Shows all together. Just have a 5 minute show with the draws after the news.

God knows why they keep going for cheap looking gameshows all the time.

Thanks for the comments so far... this is where it all goes downhill now!

Building upon this, I decided to adapt the Sky News aston set to show you what an update would look like on Sky One.

So, when the update starts and ends, it would look something like this...

http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ajmocks/sky%20update%201.jpg
the ticker would be rolling along the bottom of the screen throughout the bulletin to cover stories which are not being presented in the actual bulletin.

When a story is being presented, astons and the newswall would help to present the story with text and images, and thus would look like this...
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ajmocks/sky%20update%202.jpg

The aston sets are added by the output channel, so Sky One would put these astons up, which are in the current style of Sky One. Sky Travel or likewise, would put up astons which match their style whilst retaining that Sky news "Slug" look.

The newswall presentation is generic and would appear across all channels which are carrying the update, its just the astons which vary to suit the style of the channel.

I might have a go at creating some stings later on.

This is my first 3D-esq mock, so please tell me what you think...

Arrow Sky News Update Studio
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/ajmocks/studio_mock.jpg

Other Sky Channels - i.e. Sky One, Flaunt etc etc would cut to this studio every hour for a news bulletin from Sky News

The bullitin would be presented standing up and would last about a minute. The mini-news wall would be used like the newswall presentations on Sky News - i.e. showing pictures and text related to the story which is being presented.

Its fairly basic, but I think it looks good for my first attempt. Smile
