It's a dead horse that's been flogged for a bit too long unfortunately and needs an extended break from TV screens if it does ever get picked up again.

It became less and less of a social experiment over the years and just another show for the wannabe media whores to get their 5 seconds of fame.

IF a broadcaster picks it up, it needs a full reboot and reset. I suspect the brand is a little too toxic right now though.

Some nice nods to the past on this evening's launch show - including bringing the housemates on to set in cars.

Is it really a disgrace, or is a sense of perspective needed here? I'd argue that it's more of a disgrace that the BBC flogged the complex for peanuts, but that's a different thread.

Ugh, not this argument again. "Live from ITV Studios..." doesn't refer to the building, but rather the production company making the show.

New BBC corporate font: BBC Reith

I watched that yesterday (not having seen it here) and it didn't even occur to me that Reith was being used. Just looks like a bog standard subtitling font to be honest.

Interactive services memories

I remember having a set of these:

Neat idea as they were slightly more responsive than a standard remote and allowed for multiplayer. Supportt was limited though and I can't actually remember any of the games you could play multiplayer!

They also dabbled with Online Multiplayer at some point too - I recall it working pretty well, but as with most interactive services it was ridiculously slow over the dial up modem and was overtaken by mobile gaming and apps.

There was a small-but-significant fire on the industrial estate next to the glass box during the evening programmes last night. Thankfully, there was no need to evacuate, but the (quite thick) smoke blew in the direction of Sky Studio, where Studio 6 is.

No damage was done to any Sky buildings and no-one was hurt, but the air conditioning vents at Studios had to be shut - which, in this heat, was going to make rolling news broadcasting impossible.


The second time in a month too. Last time we had to shut the aircon off in the NOW TV building - which was pretty unbearable in the heat!

Carrie Gracie resignation

I very much doubt the BBC would want the 'No Job for Gracie to Return To Following Pay Dispute' news headlines in 6 months time, so I expect they'll find a role for her if she chooses to return.

Good Evening Britain

Hmm... so I'm a little torn on it. I think it has promise, but the problem is it's just far too crammed with guests tonight.

They'd be better off having just a couple of debates and a bit of showbiz fluff - maybe a quick news update at the bottom of the hour. I found tonight's show just a little stressful to watch with the amount of stuff going on.

If you look at both of the screens, the spotlights seem to be quite fake.

It looks to me like the title camera move was prerecorded and they went to the live shot as soon as the live graphic came up on screen.

It's nice that the app pulled across my favourites, but not sold on the use of Reith Serif in the app, nor the logo itself.
