International News Presentation: Past and Present

A special beginning of yesterday's tagesthemen (ARD, Germany): Because of the 50th birthday of the children's programme Die Sendung mit der Maus ("The programme with the mouse"), the Maus was standing next to the tagesthemen anchor during the opening sequence, and the voice over was done by Armin Maiwald, who's the presenter of that children's programme.

Also, anchor Pinar Atalay's first sentences were in Turkish, ending with "That was Turkish" in German. That's a typical element of "Die Sendung mit der Maus", as the overview segment is always done in German and afterwards repeated in another language, as a kind of riddle.
