As for the clock position I noticed that too, but when I was in Manchester the other day I saw their output and they have done the same thing. Perhaps it was easier to modify their existing straps to incorporate a clock than to completely redesign them?

I suspect operator error with the red topped strap, there are a variety of templates that can be used for all of the different types of caption the bbc uses.
