Yet GHR has less listeners in the West Midlands than Absolute did on FM.
I understand GHR performance since replacing "Metro2Radio" etc. has been underwhelming in general - haemorrhaging listeners in some areas.
Total speculation - I think the lackluster performance of Hits in Manchester, again dropping listeners vs Key 103, the initial breakfast show flopping, general unfavourable reviews, has spooked Bauer.
So now we have a late 90s GMG North situation where legacy names soldier on in a zombie-like state, with a token local breakfast show.
I agree I find it hard to imagine how they'd be worse off with tightly focused and re-energised networks using the Kiss, Absolute and Magic brands.
