How many of you remember 24 Hours, a current affairs series on BBC 1 originally presented by Cliff Mitchelmore, and later by others including Kenneth Allsop and David Dimbleby ? It was replaced in the 1970's by 'Midweek' and that in turn superseded by Newsnight on BBC 2 in 1980.
Here is a very poor recording of the closing theme of 24 Hours from the early 1970's, crudely made on reel to reel tape recorder by placing an external mic near the TV's speaker
How technology has moved on !!

If anyone has a better quality recording or knows where I could obtain one, PLEASE let me know. Thank you.
Meanwhile have a listen to this. See if it brings back memories. To me, it has something of a similar construction to the Newsnight them, although the tune is totally different. However, the research I've made suggests that it was not composed by George Fenton. Can anyone throw a light on it ?
24 Hours theme
