If they'd just gone "it's series 10! Big round number! Wooh!" there would be no issue. Unfortunately, logic and dictionaries exist, you can't go around saying "we're ten years old today! Wooh!" when anyone who looks at the dates can go "er, hang on a minute..."
This won't be a problem when ID cards are introduced.

It takes Big Brother the length of a series for its "first year" to be complete.
Therefore, by the time the second series arrives it is in its second year. It is therefore 2 years old. Ergo, in its tenth series it is ten years old.
Why would anyone not be able to comprehend this? How illogical would it be to wait for the 11th series to call it the "tenth birthday".
That would be nonsense.
