Border was also heavily involved with CFM Radio, which was Cumbria's first ILR station. In the early days this was a very good radio station, playing the sort of music the BBC ignored such as seventies and eighties hits, heavy metal at night and also having some very good specialist shows such as the Reverend Mike, an irreverent phone in that had a massive following. Border, for all it was a bit parochial and starchy, really did care about its region and CFM was like a radio extension of this.
