Why does there need to be absolute uniformity across every channel?

Because then everyone can stop moaning about how different everything is and start moaning about how everything's the same Laughing

You have to have either complete consistency (like ITV's channels) or completely different (like Channel 4's channels). Otherwise it just makes you look like you're trying to be consistent but aren't very good at it.

There's being creative and just putting things where it plainly looks wrong. I stand by the fact BBC Three's logo looks better when the BBC logo is in the centre and CBBC's would be the same.

I reckon the BBC boxes are going altogether and they are just there temporarily. That's my feeling. Could be wrong of course.

The BBC logo being a different size in each logo and one tight in the corner and one slightly out from it is annoying. They would be better ensuring that all of them are the same apart from the channel "logo" contained within.

I imagine if BBC TWO were to get this new design, it would simply be the famous 2 used, but what would BBC ONE have? Would they bring back the '1' symbol?

I like that the logos are different and have been designed to suit the branding of the channel. I dislike the fact that the BBC logo is an afterthought and think they could have got around it by doing what ITV did in 2004-5 with stacked logos that featured the broken squared itv logo above the square channel identifier. http://hub.tv-ark.org.uk/images/itv1/itv1_images/2002/itv1_id_light2005.jpg

The best way to get the answer for the CBBC logo would be the children themselves:

BBC Four and CBeebies have had their logo and idents for more than a decade. I think BBC Four could do with a refresh but CBeebies works so well, it could be left alone.

The animation looks fairly standard, but it works well with the simple music. Though I hope that this isn't a new trend with putting the BBC logo in the upper left.

It would look better if the logo was center

Can't exactly embed it to the forums, but here's a compilation of links, on the last day of TC9, CBBC 2006, they go on a little tour.. And more videos from that era.

As soon as I saw an advert for the 'new look' CBBC, my heart sank. I know it's nice for contunuity from BBC3 and it was inevitable, especially because the 2014-2016 idents were awful in my opinion but this certainly is the start of EVERY channel looking EXACTLY THE SAME. I absolutely loved the old 2008-2012 idents (but it's probably as I have grown up with them) that I still watch clips of those idents. For me, then, my heart sank because of me being an ident Luddite.
I hope the Beeb aren't going to spread this out across their networks as this new 'BBC' in the top-left corner will make everything boring. It's nice for every channel to have an identity, and this square with a random shape symbolising something (which is what every other channel is doing - Channel 5 - five rainbows, Channel 4 - blocks flying about everywhere) surely is not the way to go.
On the BBC iPlayer app in black and white, it looks like Pac-Man gone wrong. It's fun and colourful on the inside, but on the outside, this box does nothing for me. It's only been a year or two since BBC2 reverted back to their older style idents (which I still love) so if the BBC want to retain that continuity, they are going to have to SPEND MORE MONEY employing Red Bee Media to create another load of new idents. Is it worth it? In the long run, probably but if it could have saved a TV channel, I doubt it. Children are online so much more than adults when it comes to watching clips and shows, and the BBC have taken advantage of this but it might have sacrificed some of the things that they stand for.

A retro remake on Twitter:

Proof again that just like the BBC II! logo the main logo element is actually quite effective, but the BBC blocks just aren't positioned effectively. Indeed maybe it's time they do a C4/C5, or more accurately UKTV, and just don't have the BBC logo within the channel logos, concentrating on the channel brand instead.
