And here is a part of their weather segment (I love their use of the window; is this a new feature?):

Mr Q posted:

Thanks for that - no change yet on TV2 News (channel). It was announced late last year that TV2's 7pm news (Nyhederne) would be refreshed - new graphics, yes, but also some new features of the broadcast. Last night (Sunday) also included an online extension of the broadcast with an interview with one of the country's political leaders.

It'll also be interesting to see if this gets picked up for the 10pm edition (which has had its own presentation format for a while - although from the same studio and with largely the same graphics).

Here's a new clip of the 10 p.m. edition:

I don't think I've seen a shot directly through the window before - but certainly the window has been part of their main weather set for a while.

Apologies if this has already been posted, but I happened across this lovely collection of European News intros that seems fairly up to date.

I was rather proud of the UK ones, until I saw the rest of the continent later on, which were good.

There is a fair amount of 'sharing of ideas', shall we say, between broadcasters. Laughing . . . and Germans/Benelux countries certainly like to stand up when reading the news.

Enjoy: it's nearly 10m long, but worth it.

Every month, there seems to be an updated collection of opens uploaded to YouTube. And they all look incredible. I'm waiting on the VRT NIEWUS update from Belgium

I love the use of virtual sets. I'm not sure if I've said it here or at TVNT but the problem with virtual sets in the US for the most part is that designers and networks try to make them too realistic. Where as European channels know that their viewers likely know that the sets are virtual so they for the most part make it look sleek.

I take it almost all these channels are Free To Air through out most of Europe?

Well, they are generally available on FTA DTT only in their respective countries, but many -- if not most -- are also available on FTA (unencrypted) satellite, so yes, you can receive them throughout Europe if you have the right equipment. Also, the broadcasters that do use encryption often air their newscasts in the clear.

From 1985, here's the entire late newscast from ORF in Austria (the clip includes the closing credits of the previous program, and includes extensive coverage of the Vienna Opera Ball, a major event in Austria):

Does anyone know when Belgian broadcaster VRT plans to unveil its relaunched news service? Late last year, the team decamped to a temporary studio with reports it would relaunch in January. Nothing as yet. Hope it doesn't become another Tagesschau and take years!
