Not sure if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but according to LinkedIn, a certain Vikki Cook is now working at Forces TV.

Not sure there are many hipster events Forces TV can cover on-ops.

There's a big murder story in London today so expecting them to drop the ball on that as per usual. Here's a joke for little New Years joke for you.

Q: How many London Live journalists does it take to cover a news story well?
A: London Live cover news?

Surprisingly, London Live were the first to cover the big gas leak in Penge on Sunday with lives between 12-2pm. BBC London and ITV News London did have more detailed VT in the evening though.

Fair does to them there. But that's also due more to news TX times than other factors.

I was flicking around at 6.30 last night and they had a decent live report from the scene - which was immediately followed by another live report on the night tube, then some news in brief items and the travel and weather. It felt almost like a proper, US-style local news programme - at least for the 5-10 minutes that I was watching.

I was pleasantly surprised as I'd all but abandoned London Live a while ago.

The less time they spend at pre-arranged hipster spots or art galleries and more at actual news spots can only be a positive.

EDIT: A quick look at the lunchtime news showed both reporters were at newsworthy events, one in Erith to cover the former EastEnders actress story and the other in Croydon for the industrial tribunal of the former Chelsea FC doctor.

In other news, it appears according to the Freeview EPG that Kicks Off returns to the Monday 7-8pm slot from next week.

I think that now they have given up on their going out stuff from the days of Go and Not The One Show/The Evening Show they don't have the resource. If they did they likely would. Talking about that kind of thing got me thinking and the guy they used to have doing that stuff now appears to be in the US (Thanks Linked In!). I have seen him on some TV stuff in the UK still though so I guess he's doing both there and here?

Showbiz Simon. I'm probably one of the few people who heard of him before LL as a regular guest on the 6.30pm 5 News along with fellow film buff Rebecca Perfect. Surprised she didn't end up on LL as well.

That's him, yeah. I liked him. Not the biggest fan of her to be honest, a bit 'stage school'ish, but better than than Sycophant Solomons though. That Movie Talk show is so dull. Why they didn't get Simon to do something like that I will never know but I guess he's better off out of there. I found his show reel on Youtube and it made me chuckle. A loss to London Live.

So Kicks Off returned tonight. Jason Cundy stepped into the Kiri Bloore role by shouting during every link. Anthony Baxter did a pre-rec look at the weekend's games.

Cundy is back on Monday, but no mention of a co-host.

And also someone forgot to update the copyright year.

According to the Freeview EPG, England Ladies football player Alex Scott is Kiri Bloore's replacement on Kicks Off.
