BBC Three have now had 3 new looks since the time BBC One has had just one (if you forget the refresh the idents had in 2009). The BBC Three world idents launched in 2008, then the previous look launched in 2013, and now this new look in 2016.

Surely this must mean BBC One and Two could get a new look. I know they are more mainstream channels and get more media attention, but the BBC Three rebrands must have had a fair cost involved and no one has complained, so would it really be such an issue for the other channels? Esp BBC Two which is in dire need of a new look.

I do think it would've made more sense to hold off on the rebrand until the online service launched. Creating made-for-TV material weeks before its demise is just waving a red sheet in front of the Daily Mail.

Wow! Also interested to see the Mail now has a whole section dedicated to the BBC, I imagine that section is about as factually accurate as Tony Blair's appearance at the Chilcott Inquiry.

Also, why couldn't they have just used this as the logo, instead of the 3 lines? Looks better when put beside the other logos and would look like a much nicer DOG.

I was, however, most horrified to notice Arial and Arial Narrow being used. That is the end of branding right there, that and when they finally use Comic Sans for CBBC.

The day Comic Sans appears on the BBC in any form will be the day we can formally announce: Last one out of the building please switch off the lights.

Makes me wonder if this is two fingers at the BBC Trust for letting the plans go ahead.

They could have easily made their feelings clear in the logo by extending the middle line!

I agree, that version looks quite good, why didn't they stick with that?

I really don't like Red Bee Media at the moment. Martin Lambie-Nairn should give the BBC and other companies some training on branding.

To be fair the idents aren't too bad - though will they be seen in full once the channel closes. At the moment iPlayer content only has a very short sting.

The logo is a bit naff but I like that it is a logo - just think it's a ridiculous time to replace it and as someone said earlier is obviously a distraction technique to try and brand a closure as a rebrand.

Complete 60 Seconds News bulletin from 2300.

The reason they haven't used the word Three is due to there being a bbc three app and they must fit the logo into a small space.

They should have brought the blob back or a blob with 3 eyes xD

Oh the world of marketing....
