Got my first glimpse of the new lights ident before Home Alone. Gorgeous. Well done C4! It's actually something I'd be happy to see them show again next year if they changed the designs used so they can keep the same overall look but tailor it very year to keep it fresh.

I'm still expecting to see that Green xmas tree BB as an ident.

I suspected we'll see them for the next few years. It does seem to be something designed to be used year after year, though you probably could get a set of their own out of the lights concept.

As pad-e says, I saw the lights ident before Home Alone for the first time (on the telly, at least). If I had one gripe, it's that they let it play in full long after the CA has said what they have to say. Comes across like something has been mistimed. I'd say it'd be better for the CA to come in a little later, but it's still a while into the ident before anybody says anything.

That's nitpicking though. It's definitely one of the best Christmas idents of recent years. Even better when it precedes one of the greatest Christmas films there is.

Complaining about idents being too long - really? It's great that C4 let them run longer than the 10-15 seconds which is increasingly common on other channels, and certainly with the former set the idents always played a little once the CA had finished rather than cutting immediately to the show. C4 give their presentation a bit of space to breathe, something not even the BBC do nowadays.

Fabulous effort from Channel 4 for Christmas. It's such a nice surprise isn't it?

It really highlights the point that they should get rid of that ridiculous bird man and focus on the blocks aspect.

It's interesting how the blocks can become other images... that's a much better idea than those ridiclous and now tired new idents.

I'm not complaining about them being too long. What I was saying is you'd expect the programme to start once the CA has finished speaking. It wouldn't bother me if an ident ran for about 30 seconds or so before anybody said anything. As I said, it was only nitpicking.

It's very difficult for the CA now because there's no 4 anymore.

Anyway, it's a superb effort from Channel 4. It makes up for the terrible ordinary idents they have recently launched.

I wonder if the Christmas idents stop on Boxing day or the 27th? Knowing Channel 4 they won't show them for long.

Channel 4 haven't had Christmas pres since the year before the previous idents launched, so there's really no way of knowing.
