Astonishing, ITV NaT delayed until 10:30 tonight for a 'talking heads' compilation of 90 minutes of Bond themes: the sort of meaningless schedule filler that the BBC reserve for their soon-to-be off air third channel.
What are ITV playing at?
Meaningless shows featuring Bond themes? Where have I heard that before?
It really does seem to have been worse in recent weeks (even putting I'm a Celeb to once side) though than for quite some time - and the revamp and all the talk that has come with it has only highlighted how much of a problem it is.
Hopefully it'll settle in the New Year - I guess the potential of Extra Time and possibly dwindling British interest will move the Champions League highlights to after News at Ten at least.
Pretty normal this time of year and has been for years, as various one of specials push it back in the important pre Christmas advertising period.
Besides the Champions League Highlights it will no doubt be at 10 every night in Jan, Feb, Mar etc etc

No one seemed to care last year when for two days running the news at ten was pushed back to 10.30 for the Christopher Jefferies drama.

It's already dropped on Monday January 4th and Thursday the 7th for two 90 minute programmes.
Adam Crozier made it pretty clear last week at the select committee that he couldn't care less about the programme or the scheduling of it's BBC rival. I bet Tom was pleased

It isn't dropped; it's just moved to a later slot. On the nights when the bulletin was on at a different time but still half-an-hour long - before Tom became the main presenter - it was still News at Ten in all but name and, now, it is officially known as News at Ten even on the nights when it's on in a later slot.

Q609 Jason McCartney:
One of the things when we have senior BBC people in front of us is the cost of talent. Obviously ITV have just secured the talents of Robert Peston. Where do you see him fitting into ITV’s willingness and drive and ability to compete on, say, current affairs? What is your thinking behind that move?
Adam Crozier:
I think ITV in the past talked about getting out of news. This Committee may have, in various guises, been involved with some of those discussions. We have been absolutely clear: we think news, both national and regional, is a really important part of our schedule. We are completely committed to it. We have just invested huge capital sums in new studios, new equipment, new cameras, new drones for the news teams, so we are very, very committed to news and hiring talented people to present the news, whether that is Tom Bradby, Robert Peston and others. Sometimes we poach people from the BBC; sometimes the BBC poaches people from us. Laura Kuenssberg would be a good example. People move around all the time. We compete there. Again, we tend to concentrate more on are we producing a great news programme rather than worrying what the BBC is doing on theirs. I know there has been all that hoo-ha around 10 o’clock at night, but to be honest, that is not really coming from us. There is no mention of the BBC not being allowed to do their news at 10 o’clock in our submissions. If they want to do their news at 10 o’clock, do it at 10 o’clock. That is entirely a matter for them.
