The last time saw BBC2 using them outside the signed zone was for the last ever Top gear.

They tend to be used after over-running sports coverage - it's mostly a case of luck though.

Either have BBC logo, TWO text and nation subtitle ALL in black, all opaque or all something else, but don't mix and f*kin match!

Was that one of Network's first showings of Silk before the Newnight Special just then?

It served very well as a sombre ident.

I think network has been using Silk regularly for a while now. It works very well as a sombre ident - I wonder if it was specifically designed with that use case in mind.

Your right its been popping up all over the place, Outside Newsnight, for more important programmes. Although swan would also be useful as a Sombre ident. Kerba isnt being used as much.

Kebab pops up before a lot of comedy shows. Seems to be either that or Zapper.

NI made brilliant use of some of the more sombre idents at their disposal last night, played out at extended length to detail the schedule changes. Steam, Wave Night and Copper Cut-Out all received run outs in the junctions preceding the Newsnight one.

Let's also just acknowledge that the use of the powerful Silk prior to Newsnight was markedly more reverent than an Alt-J backed Seascape would have been...

So credit where credit is due.

Not to mention Optics. Wink
