This thread makes me sad. When did anyone start caring about adverts (other than the people trying to sell us stuff)?

Especially themed adverts for an event that's almost a 1/6 of the year away.

I suppose people, like myself, just like Christmas and adverts have started to fall into the same category as films, songs, and special TV episodes. They're just things people associate with the holiday season. People argue that it's commercialisation as its finest, but I for one have never been encouraged by a Christmas advert to shop somewhere or buy something. I'm confident that of the 6m+ (as of this post) people who have watched the John Lewis advert on YouTube, only a fraction of them will actually want to go and shop in John Lewis. I suppose the penguin from last year is an exception, but I can't see telescopes and old men being on the Christmas lists of children across the country.

The Very ad is the sort of thing C4 should be doing with their new look.

Christmas adverts are, whether you like it or not, just as much a part of the TV experience as the Great Escape on Boxing Day or the Snowman.

I should probably put this in Requests (and probably will if this post goes nowhere) but Sky ran an advert that coincided with this thing in 2010 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0TL9sqzGyQ - which, I believe, was more of a "subscribe to Sky Movies" than a "here's what on this Christmas". It used more upbeat music that I heard another year on a local radio advert but I can't find it anywhere, starts with a few notes on what sounds like an acoustic guitar and then breaks into a more jolly Christmassy thing. It used clips from the same movies like Fantastic Mr Fox and Alice in Wonderland, and St Trinians if I'm not mistaken. I don't suppose anybody's ever come across something that sounds like this?

It's called 'What I want for Christmas' by Orba Squara.

Thanks fanoftv but that's the song used in the advert I've linked to. The one I'm referring to ran alongside it as a more of a "subscribe to Sky" advert than a Sky Movies advert, with a soundtrack that sounded more upbeat and library-esque.
