The Telegraph has an interview with Sky's Director of Partnerships Emma Lloyd.

In the article, she explains how Roku became their partner in launching the NOW TV streaming box and the partnership with another company which enabled them to get on other platforms, such as Apple TV.

Experienced occasional drop outs watching the F1 today, twitter suggests I wasn't the only one.

I rarely get drop outs since I've connected the smart tv with an Ethernet cable. Picture quality has also improved.

At long last 'Allo 'Allo on Gold is no longer slated on NOW TV.

The trial time for new customers using the Movies pass has been reduced.

Movies customers can trial the service for 14 days instead of 30. (Netflix and Amazon continue to provide free 30 day trials)

A new Entertainment pass trial has been added for 14 days also.

Presumably because Sky haven't written a tvOS app for NowTV yet?

Watching via the LG app, bitrates have been increased from 1770kbps to 2500kbps on the live Sky Movies channels.

In comparison to the highest quality iPlayer streaming stuff now hitting >5Mbs (though not sure that the live channels are using this profile yet)

I understand some connected tv versions of iPlayer are streaming 3/4 and BBC News at 720p now. Not tried the LG iPlayer app to confirm.

The highest bitrates are for the live Sky Sports channels, which are approx 3750kbps and are also 720p.

Is any of the Sky stuff 720/50p yet - as some iPlayer content is?

The 5.166Mbs profile on iPlayer is 720/50p, and I think the 2.something Mbs 960x540 profile is also 50p. Don't think they have been rolled out for live streams yet though.

.... and so this morning, the AppleTV V3 app has been converted to the V4 format and made available in the New TvOS App Store.

No functionality change currently.
