You only need to watch the channel's output to see how things are all over the place.
At what stage in Channel 4's history has its output been anything other than extremely varied?
I meant 'all over the place' in the sense that it is a mess. Although I'm assuming you're smart enough to understand that and were just being facetious.
I think you've misunderstood that. He is countering your argument that Channel 4 isn't varied.
Having watched the package for the first time live on TV (Aerial is broken in our house). I saw the play-out of the Waterfall ident and it's a really, really beautiful piece of cinematography. From what I've seen of the package from bits of clips I've seen, I feel like Demolition can work, but the parts they are emphasising just don't. The Cliff exploding is probably the most expensive bit, but it doesn't show the blocks on screen enough to warrant it's play-out. A better solution would be to use the actual mining bits which actually strength the brand of the blocks. With this, you wouldn't need to stings to emphasis what the brand is.
When they find their feet about which cuts to use, I feel like it'll find it's feet and the subsequent idents that they're sure to add in the next few years will be more focused. They can even add to the 'story' of the blocks, which would be a shame not to build on, with the premise of the story being really interesting and intriguing (when I followed the rebrand on here, I felt like these were trailers for the main event which would have been absolutely exceptional had it all have been released on the same night).
I think all in all, the package has a lot of room to run.

Wait til you see the science laboratory. I've only seen the cylinder turn round with one block on the top on TV.
When did Channel 4 start using "New Season" instead of "New Series"? I've seen Channel 5 do this a few times too, pet hate!
Season seems to have stuck for some people. Peter Capaldi uses the word season for Doctor Who and with VOD services like Netfilx referring to seasons I think you'll eventually hear more people calling Series "seasons"

Doesn't make it any less wrong though, we don't have TV "seasons" that go from Autumn to Spring with substantial breaks in between.
If they're referring to US shows though they're technically right, and while we don't have the year long season the US do the autumn has always been billed as "New Season" in the TV mags etc. for as long as I can remember.
I understood that a "Season" in the UK, would be a group of Programme Series which are roughly related. So examples would be the BBC doing an India season, with programmes on various channels, that fall under that category.

Bad example. For some reason Doctor Who always used Season instead of Series in the original run, which Capaldi grew up watching. The current run may be advertised as Series 9, but it it also technically season 35.
