UKTV's Gold will rebrand as Christmas GOLD over the festive period as it shows classic Christmas shows.

This is announced as part of an interview with UKTV's chief executive as UKTV overtakes Sky's branded channels on share.

As long as it's not Christmas.

EDIT: Sorry this was meant to say Cr*mbo, but it seems Asa has the good taste to autocorrect it!

Wiktionary gives a nice etymology:

Quote:
Attested in this form since 1755, and preceded by earlier forms such as X'temmas (1551) and Old English Χp̃es mæssa (1100), from Christmas, replacing Christ by the abbreviation X, from Ancient Greek Χ ‎(Kh, “(letter chi)”), from Χριστός ‎(Khristós, “Christ”). Surface analysis X ‎(“Christ”) +‎ -mas ‎(“holiday”). In popular use since late 19th century.

GOLD has to be in caps to match the channel branding, and that uses more space/pixels on the Sky EPG than just 'Gold', so I suspect it might be 'Chrstms GOLD' (if that fits) . . . Confused

It'll be Xmas Gold, XMAS GOLD or Xmas GOLD.
