"You'll remember from last night" and "you might recall" did feature though.

There should really be a programme that satirises all this stuff, and other strange things broadcast in the past week - preferably hosted by a bald comedian.
Jimmy Frinton's Radio Fart, anyone?

Yeah that's more suited to Charlie Brooker. When's Weekly Wipe back?
Harry Hill wouldn't satirise the news.

"You'll remember" and "you might recall" were favorite phrases of Des Lynam. It sort of worked for a major sports broadcast where Des was referring to historic matches.
Bradby's use of these phrases just comes over as totally patronising.
ITN's standard of reporting remain as high as ever, however this new Tabloid format of presentation removes the gravitas of the reports themselves and turns the focus onto the presenter. It is a great shame to see News at Ten being dummed down in this way.
Only last week, there was an excellent programme on ITV on the history of TV news in UK featuring clips from some of the greats like Reggie Bosenquet, Alistair Burnet, Andrew Gardner etc. These newscasters had real stature and gravitas. How they must turn in their graves seeing the appalling script used by Bradby with this new tabloid format of delivery.
Its a sad sad week for British Television news.

Wouldn't surpirse me if NaT was to appear on Gogglebox seeing as it usually does most weeks.

In the past, News at Ten did in-depth/agenda-setting stuff in a special 'focus' (or similar) segment later in the programme. Seems like that would be the logical way to introduce more of a 'Newsnight' feel.
Also, I can't help but feel that Mark or Alastair would actually carry off the format they're going for a lot better than Tom.

I disagree. I can't compare to the News at Ten of recent times, and I'm clearly in the minority on here, but to me this format whizzes by and feels much shorter than its run time.
The pace has been killed. The 35 minute run time feels like an hour.

I agree with you. I think that once he settles in Tom will adapt his style. What would make it better is if there was a summary of say 1 minute of all the other news and sport headlines.
