Instead of waiting until the new year to relaunch the look of News at Ten, they should be doing it tonight. With a new presenter, the time is now for it to relaunch, not in three months time etc. I do see their way of thinking though!
Christmas would be a good time to tweak the main ITV News desk area, with the national bulletins coming from the London desk. Staffing of the early evening bulletin would be shared with London anyway on the days between Christmas and New Year.
Except for the fact that it is Christmas, nobody wants to be working extra time building sets and doing rehearsals, which is why new looks in January tend to be in the second week.
I don't think the other bulletins need a refresh, it's still perfectly fresh and new and would detract from News at Ten's relaunch.
For News at Ten they might as well just bring back the 2008 look. It was so short lived everyone has probably forgotten it or barely saw it at all, so they'd get a brand new look for free.
Just found an @NewsAtTen Twitter account, with two posts both on the 28th September, however it is followed by ITV News, several ITV journalists and has links to ITVNews.com. It currently holds generic ITV News branding. I wonder whether with the January refresh, News at Ten will get its own social media pages?

It'll never happen but I don't think anyone would complain if the skyline/clockface was brought back. It was quite visually stunning on screen and certainly one of the best television news 'sets' in recent years. Shame we never got to see it in HD!

They say the account is genuine. However, they are using Twitter for iPhone though, nothing too professional. They also tweeted me what they are planning to use the account for:
@MrJamesCraker Everything from breaking news lines and reporter blogs to sneak previews ahead of the programme.
Ooh does that suggest there may be some form of visual update?
Seems odd the News at Ten Twitter icon is ITV News logo. Maybe a logo update "News at Ten" with the same studio and titles?
My guess is that if they are using new news at ten branding, they are using the ITV News logo temporarily and launching something new tonight. However it does seem they are also using the ITV news banner now too, which they weren't using earlier.
