A lot of confirmation bias in your thinking. Just saying.

Also who forced ITV to have representing border on three times aweek? or is this all of ITV own back?
OK, it wasn't off their own back, but ITV are only obliged to show 90 minutes of non-news content a week, and with Border Life they are showing 2 hours per week! So really, they were not forced to show it three times a week - they just chose to.

UTV could end up being the same, there just leave well along, IE UTV news, while having UTV live at 10.30 while ripping everything else out, ie back office etc .

Yes, and they could bring back regional identities in England & Wales. They wont though.

There would be real value for ITV in being a UK wide brand.

SO ITV chose to have it on three times aweek? There nothing stopping ITV having UTV live three times a week at night, also there nothing stopping them keeping the news and local channel in STV the same.

Were not talking about regional identities, yet if you look above ITV do sometimes do stuff off there own back.

There's nothing stopping ITV doing a lot of things, it doesn't mean they will.

The 'network' regional news slots in England don't meet the minimum required news minutage per week for Wales, so ITV introduced a Sunday lunchtime news show to meet the requirement. Does Border Scotland have the same requirement, with the 3rd weekly Representing Border contributing to the news rather than non-news requirement?

Or because there's no real point in doing them.

Yes they could broadcast 10 different idents simultaneously before every programme, it would cost nothing, but really who does that benefit?

ITV Wales have to show 4 hours of news a week, whereas Border is 3.05 hours - which they already meet with Lookaround and the late bulletins just taken in to account. So, no, Representing Border will not be contributing to news quotas.

Is it just me in that I find it slightly strange that each Home Nations have different News quotas? Surely the good people of Border Scotland deserve as much News as Northern Ireland? Obviously England is different due to the National News being based (and many would say biased) towards it...but surely the other Home Nations deserve equal more localised News (and other) programming?

Again were not talking about idents here, I fail to understand why you keep on highlighting this point, Im on about the news services/Local TV and websites.

So ITV really are doing something above and beyound, or is it just more cost effective to have it on three times aweek? spherical since there can use the other 30mins gap to broadcast the shows displaced at 8pm?

To be fair each home nations has different populations, UTV having the lowest, while STV has the highest but has three ITV franchises to it name,

Scottish, Grampian. That's two, not three. Border is owned by ITV, not STV.
