99% certain it won't be September.

My money would be on November again

I think it will be at the end of September - when ITV celebrates its 60th birthday.

They don't seem in any hurry to name a replacement political editor. I'd have thought they'd have Bradby in place on the Ten for the Conference season, but it does seem now they're not in any hurry to make the changes.

With the Labour leadership election due to take place on the 12th I wonder if they will start the following Monday. The Rugby World Cup kicks of later that week as well, so ITV will be looking for some large audience figures during the evenings. A good time to launch, I would think.

Presumably Chris Ship will continue to effectively act up until there is a new political editor in place.

I don't think there's much point speculating dates at random when the only thing we've been given is 'Autumn'. Let's just wait and see when the official announcement is made.

That said, could we be seeing a new look for News at Ten or even ITV News in general? Only time will tell.

ITV News has a pretty accomplished look right now, but I would prefer the Ten to stand out more than it does at the moment. NAT having an individual look and the rest of ITV News having its own identity worked very well for the best part of a decade, so I don't know why it couldn't happen again. Aside from branding, the NAT running order has felt pretty much a repeat of the 6:30 bulletin for quite a while. I think a NAT relaunch of any sort is much needed.

I think it would be a mistake to move too far away from the current branding - News at Ten already has it's own titles and I think just subtle differences is the best way to go about it at the moment.

Minus the 10pm clock hands, it's the exact same generic title sequence as can be seen on the late weekend news, so not exactly it's own titles. It's possible to keep the general feel of the current branding while making subtle differences to make NAT standout a bit more than it does at present.

Back to Bradby and I do still have my reservations, but I think he'll come into his own before long. More worried about Rageh Omaar to be honest... absolutely top reporter but he's too rabbit-in-headlights in the studio for me!

Ah, give Rageh a break! He has always seemed professional every time I've watching him presenting a bulletin.

Professional but bland - he's far better as a reporter or in an investigative role, and while acceptable on the weekend news he will have to prove himself on News at Ten, though hopefully he'll rarely be seen as Julie will be used as much as possible. I suspect he was a last minute addition to the programme when Mark Austin refused to have anything to do with it.
Telly Media and Nicky gave kudos
