Do not like that desk one bit.

The thing is that desk design worked for Brazil the colours felt right for that tournament and setting.

I would say they had the smaller one made used on location in case England got to the later round of the World Cup. Then felt they had to use it for the FA Cup last year. It wish they had some consultancy with the desks across all the sets.

It didn't look right at all.
It looks like the gold is staying past the 50 years celebration, though I suppose it fits with the yellow branding more than the blue and red look.

Plus, blue and red is associated with Sky Sports.

Really surprised how the introduction of the mixed case text on Sky Sports makes the coverage seem less 'in your face', a welcome change.

It's inconsistent the sky sports scoreboard uses the bold font but the lower thirds is non bold, this wasn't the case with the old font.

No change on IMGs Premier League coverage, although some nice minor alterations to Premier League TVs studio, they've adopted some elements from MOTD as they are using virtual studio graphics now, the stings may have changed but I can't check for this Sad

People got annoyed about a woman reading a few fan emails out the BBC version, I dread to think what they'll think of this.

My first thought was Soccer AM which isn't great when the majority of the audience just want the highlights and some decent analysis. It's always the same story though, a new team get hold of it and think they can reinvent it. Do we know if Andy Townsend still has his truck? Very Happy

Like the FLS dropped the viewer comments after the first season, maybe they'll cut the audience and pointless walking around too. Although if they do, I imagine they won't be able to hold on to the 9pm slot.

Not watched Final Score for around a year, seems that the loss of Football League 1 and 2 coverage is being reflected with FL update reports coming from Mark Clemmit in a separate location in the BBC Sports Centre and only PL action being reviewed from the 'main' studio.

They do still have some reporters at FL games too.

They have reporters at every Championship match and a couple of League One and Two games, which is what they've always done, even before they had the rights to the Football League. In addition they've always only had the pundits watching the Premier League matches.

The presence of Clemmit is presumably to emphasise they still care about the Football League despite not having the rights (and to give Clemmit something to do) and I suppose it makes sense to have someone monitoring the Football League while everyone else, understandably, concentrates mostly on the Premier League, but it seemed a bit pointless because Clemmit wasn't doing much Jason wasn't already doing and he never seems very comfortable in the studio. They'd be better off just having him report from a match like he used to before The Football League Show. He'd probably prefer that too.

My favourite bit of Football League Tonight was Kelly Cates offering "special thanks to Martin" when Adam Virgo was standing right next to her.

C5....

I gave up after 20mins, I wonder whether the padding is essential to the contract to fill the Slot given by Channel 5, is there a specific MotD style absolute limit to the number of minutes of highlights that can be featured? If so there might be an excuse, otherwise not.

Well at 1 hr 20 minutes with ads it would have been no longer than the BBC show which usually ran over the hour mark.

C5 really should go for a straight forward highlights show (which I suspect the Capital One Cup will be midweek) and then if they want ta discussion show produce something separately which could perhaps air midweek and cover midweek goals. Indeed will there be any coverage of midweek fixture lists from C5 - the BBC didn't as a matter of routine but could at least feature the goals on Football Focus (and possibly online, though those rights might have been sold elsewhere).

Yes, new music and new titles.

The flag theme of the titles was used for graphics during the build up coverage as well.

Why does walking round the studio and having an audience make it 9pm fare?

Regardless of timeslot, the audience wants to see the goals from across the divisions, a bit of analysis and a main feature game. Every change they've made from the Football League Show is going to make the average football fan less likely to tune in.

I honestly cannot remember such an ill-judged sports programme. They have completely misunderstood what viewers want.

The ratings were understandably awful. It averaged 0.58m, a share of 3.4%. This is well down on what the Football League Show typically got in its midnight slot.

A disaster all round.
