Although golf a far more natural fit on BBC4 than BBC3, though I'd have thought the red button would suffice. It is currently not on the Freeview EPG anyway.

Talking of red button they'very really scaled it back this year with just the leader board graphic and a stream without the cutaways to Hazel and co. No coverage of specific groups or holes.

With the First Night of the Proms on BBC Two this evening, coverage of the late-running second round of the Open Golf will continue on BBC Four this evening from 8pm until the end of play.

End board of the coverage on BBC Two earlier with commentary voiceover:
"Surprise, surprise, the golf will continue on BBC Fore!"

The real logo faded into the amended version. Hazel Irvine made reference to it being the first live sport on BBC Four at the start of the programme on there.

Really highlighting the extent to which BBC Three is being wound down - would have been unimaginable just a year ago, when the Family Guy block would have been cleared and Reggie Yates and Fearne Cotton dispatched to present the continuing coverage.

Has golf ever been shown on BBC Three?

Minor thing but Sky Sports News's overnight loop is having technical issues with the the ticker, showing "We apologise for the temporary loss of our headline service"

Going to be a bit messy at the Open Golf scheduling-wise today.

Coverage resumed at 7am this morning on BBC Two but with play quickly suspended the coverage ended at 8am.

Hazel Irvine had an update on BBC One at 10am, with One now showing Saturday Kitchen Best Bites.

No more coverage now until 12.10pm but there's a fair chance there will be no play until 4pm.

This evening and tomorrow could be interesting.

That would just confuse people in the North East!

So this now makes me wonder why they were able to create these graphics, but not able to create the correct graphics for Wimbledon?!

Different production companies / teams with different access to the original templates, or (in the case of Wimbledon) different graphics hardware being used for which the templates don't exist.

The Open Championship has the same production company IMG Sports Media but the graphics are more inline with the BBC sports new graphics.

Possibility of a Monday finish at the golf. Last time that occurred was in 1988 at Lytham, when Seve won the last of his three Open titles. However, the R&A are looking at "all possible options", which could include three balls in the third round.

There's still the matter of round two to get finished first though.

Davis Cup tennis moved to BBC 1, they have done a straight handover from the golf.
