I like these, pretty cool.

Only thing I have to complain about is the CSO being in shot. I know I wouldn't really want it in shot at anytime.

You could put the CSO under the balcony with the newsdesk as then it generally could be hidden from shot.

Actually, another thing, Where do the camera's go? You've got the shots, but no real space for the cameras.

Well surely if it's not getting used for anything it could just display a logo or something to fit seamlessly into the rest of the set. Nice studio btw Smile

The Cameras are attached to the rig on the celing, and operated remotely. I may need to remove one of the desks to make some room for a camera to cover the newswall and CSO.

As I said its still a work in progress! so I can still do it.

As for the lighting, yes it needs more lighting, getting a balance to it is hard and trying to use a minimum of lights.

The bubbles, its the only bubble image I have at the moment, It is of course one of those columns of water with lighting shining on them, and the water bubbling.

Well yeah, but then that's adding that little extra work for those in the gallery, wouldn't it look out of place expecially if the camera was moved or angled.

the shots of the news centre, arent the shots that will be used properly, they are just to show the full environment to you lot.

I will be working on them sometime tomorrow, and I will post some more accurate camera angles to be used on-air

I have done a refit of the newsroom, added two camera tracks for automated cameras, to move on, and moved the desks around, I have also added an interview-room / Bulletin meeting room, for guests who are interviewed. The window provides a view of the News Centre behind a guest for the interview, blinds can also be closed to hide the window's view.

Phase 2 of the Design

The CSO screen could be rear projected, rather than CSO, only if the screen is clear enough...

Good idea, then you could project green/blue onto it for the weather forecasts, and the Sky News logo the rest of the time.

Saves the need for complicated equipment to key on a Sky News logo at the same angle/size, when the camera moves/zooms.

Just DON'T rear-project the weather maps on, or you'll end up with them looking like they're off the 6:27 BBC weather bulletins.

I think mdta's has created a new version of sky news judging the logo and the newsroom: " sky moon news" ..LOL Laughing

Yes, looking out those 'windows', it does look a bit like "Live, from the Sky News Space Station..." Smile

Oh, and I've just noticed as well - I love how they get to look out onto the Sky News Australia newsroom. Very Happy

Very nice although I do have a question:

The CSO Desk for sport and weather: If they're shared as you state then how do you propose they do the swap if, for whatever reason, there is no sponsor bumper for Halifax for the weaher or for Sportsline (say the sponsor deals for both finish like Ryanair did).

Is Francis Wilson just going to jump on the stage after being introduced by Chris Scudder who jumps off ala "the royal variety performance"? What about the desk - its in the way of the shot if they keep that angle. Smile

Very nice otherwise. Smile

The Desk is ment to be in shot, rather than the old 'Stand in front of a blue screen' weather approach.

If they do a quick Sport to Weather, then the weather can be done from the newswall, or the sport from the Sky Sports Centre...
