Okay, well, it's exceedingly easy for me to switch between two channels next to each other on my TV. I'm telling you that SD BBC News has the black bars and HD BBC News doesn't, and my TV is not on any smart setting that is adjusting the screen.

I was watching an SD recording yesterday. Perhaps I've not noticed it before because I've watched in real time on the HD channel?

Apologies if I've missed it but is World News Today normally shown on the NC at 9pm on a Sunday?

It looked to me that the wrong opening titles were used at 6:30 tonight. They were on location but ran the usual titles just with a long hold at the end, instead of using the usual 'ob titles' where the globe animations last longer out of time with the music.

I only watch BBC News HD, and I can see the black border all the way round.

You probably (should Cool ) have overscan disabled, so the 1080 x 1920 transmission will be a 1:1 pixel:pixel match. I tend to find that SD transmissions (aka 576) as viewed on screens that are native 1920 x 1080 are very overscanned, so it's odd that some in here have only noticed the borders on the SD version of the channel ?

Caught a bit of Newsday last night on the BBC1 simulcast, they were showing the On This Day filler during World's breaks, complete with BBC World News logo and bbc.com URL pointer. Is this normal? It was nice to hear the voices of Moira Stewart, Peter Sissons and Anna Ford on BBC1 again.

I notice that nobody seems to have told Rico that Asia Business Report goes out in the UK now, he still mentions BBC World News quite often.

That fller is called This week in History not On this day. We've got a filler story on yesterday's GMT while rest of the world went for a break.

Indeed, that confused me too.

I'll have to see if I can take a screenshot of it happening so those who haven't seen it can see exactly how large this border is.
