There aren't any plans for Central to move. I am sure itv did a deal when they sold off Gas street
After these weeks out of the studio I'm guessing that they won't go HD until they move to different premises ala Channel TV.

It'll be left in a situation like TLS studio 8 then. There may be potential to upgrade if any ITV Studios upgrade their kit to 4k.

Did a laptop make an appearance yesterday or is the desk only equipped for one monitor under the desk for single pres?

Theres something not quite right I feel about the shot of Centenery Square. The new library just looks wrong head on, just like a large cube. The images on the side panels are shot at an angle, to give a 'Cinerama' type effect, but on the three flat panels it just looks distorted.

Those black bars really are hideous. If you have to install small screens, at least do something to detract from this fact. Midlands Today's vastly (IMO) superior set is the obvious example...

I've never been a fan of that Midlands Today set for pretty much the same reason we're all criticising the ITV regions set - but their solution is much better and the backdrop and screens themselves look much better. Perhaps ITV would get away more with the black borders if it wasn't for the grey columns between each screen.
Couldn't the regions have just gone for a CSO screen as the backdrop instead. Many of the regions used CSO elements before the generic days and I'd have thought just using it for the backdrop to give a view like London Tonight has, while keeping the set real at the sides, wouldn't be beyond their capabilities.
I still think failing that it should have been noticed very early on they'd be better off using the five window screens vertically and then just using panelling at the sides.
