London Live is a classic example of a failed media launch.

It had everything going for it - a large potential audience, backing from an established and respected media group, a decent launch budget, massive promotion, a few good programmes (from C4 and the BBC), a decent sized staff led by seasoned professionals and a plan.

The trouble was the plan was rubbish and the seasoned professionals were too up themselves to admit they got it wrong until it was too late.

Brekkie's right - only STV and Mustard seem to have connected with their audience. London Live are still trying to find theirs.
Mouseboy33 and London Lite gave kudos

London Live are still trying to find theirs.

And with their all over the show scheduling and often eclectic programming choices they aren't likely to find it anytime soon.

Flooded street in SW London. Disrupted travel and pedestrians. Coverage on LL?

To be honest, I've given up even checking. It's quite clear now that, if any significant news breaks in London, I'm better off heading for Sky News than London Live.

To be fair, though, there probably aren't that many Londoners bothered about what goes on in New Malden.

Mouseboy you are funny! New Malden is nowhere near Hoxton or Shoreditch!! You can't possibly expect anyone from London Live to schlep all the way across town for a tiny puddle.

New Malden would be a day trip out for the hipsters.

Ha ha ha. New Malden! That's so far outside the North and South Circular it isn't true. Can't imagine London Live even know where it is...

This was actually the second story on the ITV London bulletin that I saw this morning during Good Morning Britain.

Mind you, the same bulletin also covered an inflatable water slide at King's Cross (a marketing promotion by a drinks company), and one of the items on the actual Good Morning Britain was an in-depth discussion about flip-flops for national flip-flop day...

LOL... No of course not, but as Evening Standard had a piccy. I would have expected them to mention it. LOL. IMO anything inside the M25 should be their domain. But they cant even cover a story down the street. So thats highly unlikely. Such a waste. Too bad the channel wasnt launched to be like NY1 or CP24. Oh well.

Even as a mixed entertainment channel, London Live could/should have a decent local news service.

Even a basic top of the hour news summary, using the resources of the team who produce the on-line edition of The Standard would be preferable to what they have now. The ironic thing is the on-line edition gets updated right up to 11pm, when LL now finishes local output at 7pm.

London Live covered the anti-austerity protest with lives from Jon Naylor during the lunchtime bulletin.

No fewer than 7 hours of live boxing today, by the looks of it.

Not looking as amateurish as I was expecting, actually - they have more than one camera angle at least.

Graphics well outside the safe areas and right at the bottom of the screen, though.
