If we're keeping with DJs here, I think Chris Moyles might be a suitable contender. He's brash and controversial like Evans was, and love him or loathe him, he did a decent job on Chris Moyles Quiz Night for all that time.

Has Moyles ever made a successful TV show? He tried a number of times, and his radio persona just didn't translate at all well to the telly.

Am I right in thinking that during the episode he seemed to suggest that Nick Grimshaw would be a good replacement if the show did return for a full series.

I can see it now every other week: "And tonight's guests are my mates One Direction"

Chris Moyles Quiz Night ran for 5 series. I'd call that successful.

His Chris Moyles' Quiz Night programme for Channel 4 ran for five series which has to be considered a success, even if I personally thought it was pretty poor.

With Evans going to Top Gear I take it TFI with him is now dead. I dont believe Grimshaw would be good enough for TFI, because he's not crazy or cookie enough plus he is too main stream. I doubt he knows as people have said the non core chat music.

How about a hybrid TFI Friday / Last Leg?

When was TFI not about mainstream chart music? There was an entire episode dedicated entirely to the Spice Girls! It was synonymous with BritPop which couldn't have been anymore mainstream at the time. TFI was never the show to go to looking for the offbeat/alternative. That was, and still is, Later's domain.

The Spice Girls were the exception rather than the rule though. As big as BritPop was it was hardly mainstream in terms of TV exposure - the manufactured bands of the day (which were numerous) got far more on other shows than the likes of Oasis and Blur. From the first episode TFI wanted to reflect the emeging BritPop generation, but unlike many shows weren't afraid to follow their own agenda - so if they wanted to do an episode dedicated to the Spice Girls, so be it.

The TFI Friday revival being a one-off is a good thing IMO - it was never going to get it's 6pm slot back and I don't think it would work as well regularly at 9pm or 10pm. The best hope is that all this nostalgia leads to more shows similar in nature being pitched to C4 and hopefully they can find a TFI Friday for today.

Thanks for posting DVB Cornwall. If this is true...and it's with Evans then that is good news in my opinion. This show wouldn't work with anyone else methinks. Mr Evans is going to be busy!
