Because not all World regions take the break, besides there's 2 different clocks on screen.

Neither programmes use the opt time to give a time check, which is something I thought they'd do.

There would be no point in giving a time check, unless you say "It's 21:45 in the UK, 05:45 in Tokyo, 16:45 in New York" etc, which would be a complete waste of time.

They could do what morning shows in the U.S. do and say, "It's now 45 minutes past the hour." (Of course, there are some parts of the world with half-hour time zones, which makes things more complicated.)

Does anyone know why the News Channel only has only edition of Aska Buisness Report and Sport Today now? Seems like a step back to me.

Also about Outside Source, people are complaining about the opt-out, it's part of the format and has been from the beginning despite there actually being an ad break in the World News only edition, it makes sense considering they are the same programme. Overnights have opt-out and in stings, yet nobody complains about that.

i like it's great both Business Live and OS deliver the best in BBC News presentation, stings, music etc but then BBC World News has always edged out BBC News Channel (BBC News 24) in the past when it comes to presentation.

We are just not use to it in the UK.

I still think OS needs to be 30 mins though.

It seems a BBC Urdu reporter is in a bit of bother after she tweeted during obit rehearsals that the Queen was in hospital.

Could explain why the News Channel was in Studio A earlier this morning.

So the Queen has a check up and the BBC start rehearsing an obituary?

So the Queen has a check up and the BBC start rehearsing an obituary?

The article states the two are not linked and I would imagine it takes quite a lot of planning and coordination to prepare for an obituary rehearsal - especially as they are also suspending tours.

Overnights are watched by a fraction of the audience I assume, so it makes sense for them to cut costs and simulcast world in those hours... and nobody will really notice!

If you wanted to watch the Six O'Clock News you could see it on BBC One, if you wanted breaking news coverage of the FIFA News you could get that on the BBC News Channel. Sensible decision to me.

Would have been nice if they'd actually said that, instead of just cutting straight to Outside Source in the middle of the Six O'Clock News. Something like "And you can turn over now to the BBC News Channel for rolling coverage of this story, or stay with BBC One for the rest of tonight's news".

Instead the sudden cut made it seem like a technical error, and annoyed people like me who wanted to watch the rest of the six o'clock bulletin and didn't realise that the News Channel wouldn't be showing it in full - meaning we missed the beginning of the report about Charles Kennedy.

I didn't think it was a sensible decision seeing as Outside Source was in mid-flow when it was cut to as well. Either drop the Six O'Clock News entirely and show OS from the beginning, or show the full bulletin.
