Does anyone think they would have used diffused LEDscreens as the windows? And reduce the side 'windows' to the grey wall? Surely it wouldn't have been that more expensive than buying 5 big screens that creates a letterbox effect?

(A little like the X Factor Audition room from 2013 with the LED windows)

A brilliant idea - presumably it wouldn't cost that much more.

An idea - if ITV News was hosted by this lot:

LED screens are A LOT more expensive than the LCD's they are using.

They're also a lot less camera friendly, and more prone to issues.

Are ITV looking at upgrading studios to HD as part of the re fit or is it purely cosmetic with the new sets?

ITV Central have the problem of the studio looking a lot worse than their reports. Could this be to do with reporters now using HD cameras and the studio presumably not?

Personally I find it weird that Meridian have an old looking set when their newsroom is fantastically modern (speaking from experience).

I don't think they will upgrade them to HD for a while though, sadly, although we can always hope!

Three 103" plasmas on their side? Could they get away with rear projection again?

What cameras do Central Birmingham have? Did they ever make the leap to native widescreen even?

They were 16:9 from when central court opened in 1998! I'm not sure if they ever replaced the cameras

Do we think that there's a dedicated team going around the regions installing the new sets? Maybe Birmingham will be after Calendar?

Despite the 'letterbox windows' it will be nice for Central to have some new camera angles, after being exactly the same since September 2004!

I take it the studio should be more spacious without the need of the rear projection screen? I would guess Meridian would benefit most because of their very small space.

I seem to remember from when they moved buildings (across the road, not from Northam) they just moved everything over one weekend.

Good old Central future proofing!

Only saw a small part of it, but ITV News Central seemed to look a bit CSO or somehow different tonight. The start of a temporary set up before getting the new set?

Off to the conference room again?
